19 Best June 2026 Book Releases to Add to Your TBR
Looking for the best June 2026 book releases to fit your exact mood? I’ve rounded up 19 of the newest romance books hitting shelves, including my top favorites.

Every year once June rolls around I am ready to get into Summer reading season mood. And I for one am ready for the reading bug to shine my way. May was a slow month and I didn’t feel like picking up much. Real life was also getting in the way. But after ending on a good note (and 2 five star reads) I’m starting June full of hope and excitement.
June 2026 book releases are also bringing the kind of new romances that make summer reading worth it. And for me that means the perfect combo of witches and vampires, dukes and shop girls, hockey players, serial killers, and at least one detective agency. I’ve definitely have a long list of the ones I can’t wait to read.
Every month I go digging to see what’s on the horizon, and sometimes I get my hands on them early. So I’ve pulled together the ones that caught me across contemporary, historical, paranormal, fantasy and mystery. So whether you’re in the mood for yearning, danger, banter, or a little murder with your romance, there’s something on this list for you.

My Top 3 June 2026 Book Releases
I haven’t read everything I’m excited for yet, I’m perpetually behind on ARCs and I’ve made peace with that. But these three? Mark your calendars because they are phenomenal.

Scandal of the Summer by Alexandra Vasti
RELEASE DATE: June 23, 2026
Alexandra Vasti should be a staple on every summer reading list and she happens to have a new book out this month. I already got to read this one and I can report it’s as fun as I was expecting. With a heroine too smart for her own good going off to spend the season at an estate in Cornwall pretending to be someone else and a hero who is the leader of a smuggler group/pirate crew pretending to be the staff at said estate. If you want characters you’re going to fall for from the very first page and plenty of hijinks, this is the pick for you.
Big Stick Energy by Sarina Bowen
RELEASE DATE: June 30, 2026
A hockey admin sends a NSFW text to the team captain… about the team captain. Then they end up at a wedding together pretending to date. The perfect dose of sports romance, lighthearted fun and intense feelings (brought on by that forced proximity). I never miss a Sarina Bowen hockey romance and you shouldn’t either.
These Immortal Truths by Rachelle Raeta
RELEASE DATE: June 30, 2026
If you’re a fan of The Invisible Life of Addie La Rue, you’ll want to add These Immortal Truths to your TBR. This isn’t a new release for the month, the ebook and audio are available as this was already published as an indie book before. But this is getting a deluxe publisher edition in June and it was for that reason it was put on my radar. I’m so happy it did. The second and final book in the duet is also getting republished in July, so you can have both pretties to finish the journey. Across time, heartbreak, and loves. This is the epic journey to go on this month.
Now here are 16 more bringing the perfect vibes for your summer reading.
Contemporary Romance June 2026 Book Releases
Listen, contemporary romance is where it’s at for the June 2026 book releases. No, really. I had to literally control myself.

Harvest Season by Brynne Weaver
RELEASE DATE: June 9, 2026
Summer reading just screams dark romcom and no one does it quite like Brynne Weaver. This is book 2 in the Seasons of Carnage series and this series is set in a small town with the perfect seaside beach vibes. Plus this one is a villain x villain story, something else she does so well. I can’t wait to dive in.
North Country by K.A. Tucker
RELEASE DATE: June 16, 2026
Did I know that K.A. Tucker had a new book coming out? No. Did I add it to my must read list immediately without reading the blurb? Absolutely! And when I read it… hooked! Give it to me now. The heroine is the town’s sheriff and her ex is the mayor. She’s a single mother with enough on her plate. And then her childhood love gets out of prison and comes back to town. Yes, I need that in my life right now. K.A. Tucker is also so great at romantic suspense, and this one seems to have a thread of that with a teenage girl disappearing.
The Summer Girlfriend by Kristina Forest
RELEASE DATE: June 9, 2026
If summer reading was a cover, it would be this one. We have a wedding, a fake date, a bridesmaid for hire. Basically the recipe for the perfect escapist read to get lost in. And did I mention he’s some super rich businessman? It’s wedding season, so of course we have to have a wedding romance.
Hold Me Like a Grudge by Celine Ong
RELEASE DATE: June 30, 2026
This book was supposed to come out in March and I was devastated when it got pulled/cancelled. But I just found that it’s back on the release schedule under a new publisher (or indie) and I couldn’t be happier. Basically, if you wanted more Heated Rivalry but make it wrestling, this is the pick for you. It certainly is the pick for me. I’m diving into this one ASAP.
Historical Romance June 2026 Book Releases
This month’s historical are all about a bit of fun adventure and I’m not mad at it. It’s romcom season after all.

A Shop Girl’s Guide to Wooing a Lord by Shana Galen
RELEASE DATE: June 9, 2026
Class differences anyone? Our heroine has resorted to sneaking into homes to steal so she can be reunited with her siblings and maybe stop living under a bridge. Until she’s caught by the second son of an earl who, instead of turning her in, wants to help her. Shana Galen can do fun with a dash of mystery so well and I’m ready to dive into it.
The Very Definition of Love by Sophia Benoit
RELEASE DATE: June 23, 2026
A wallflower writing a dictionary of bawdy slang and an arranged marriage to the rake instructing her. That sounds delightfully fun! But let me be completely honest. This went on my TBR immediately when I saw the cover. I didn’t even have to read the blurb!
Game of Rogues by Julie Anne Long
RELEASE DATE: June 2, 2026
I haven’t read Julie Anne Long in a while, and in fact I’m behind on this series. But I remember always enjoying it for the mix of mystery, class differences and unconventional romances. I couldn’t pass up the beautiful cover and the premise… perfection. A lady on the edge of ruin making a deal with the king of the underworld.
Would you like to save this?
Paranormal Romance and Urban Fantasy June 2026 Book Releases
You know this is where my heart lives. I am always hunting paranormals and we have lots of different flavors this month.

The Someday Garden by Ashley Poston
RELEASE DATE: June 16, 2026
A secret garden with a mysterious man trapped inside. If this isn’t peak magical realism perfection, I don’t know what is. It’s the perfect read to close out Spring and kick off Summer. A little flowers and a dash of magic.
Dearly Departed by Chip Pons
RELEASE DATE: June 16, 2026
Ok but wait, this is actually perfect if you want paranormal romcom. Hades was banished to Earth and is the grumpy funeral director until he can find a loophole to let him go back. But then the human florist is unraveling all the plans. Yes, I need this in my life. Summer is the perfect time for some out of this world laughs.
Cauldrons & Campfires by Ali K. Mulford & K. Elle Morrison
RELEASE DATE: June 23, 2026
Adult summer camp for witches. Cozy sapphic romance. The vibes in this one are just immaculate for summer reading. Plus some opposites attract (and alt witch and a green witch) and an accidental boyfriend turned into a toad. This one seems like it’s going to be a lot fun.
Fantasy and Romantasy June 2026 Book Releases
Are there romantasy books everyone is talking about? Sure. But why don’t we look beyond the Booktok table especially for this one because there’s so many exciting things coming that it’s a travesty not to. Oh and beyond new releases, this month marks the 25th anniversary of Kushiel’s Dart by Jacqueline Carey. If you haven’t read that, it’s a great time to start and we will be starting a year long readalong to make it manageable. Stay tune for more details later on in the month.

Dhampira by Amy Pennza
RELEASE DATE: June 16, 2026
A half vampire heroine finds herself in the vampire king court and caught between him and his knight. A pawn and other things as well. This promises to be full of politics and spice, and for some reason it’s giving me Katee Robert or Kit Rocha vibes. I’m ready.
Bright Dead Things by Hailey Turner
RELEASE DATE: June 3, 2026
A new series is kicking off by Hailey Turner and I couldn’t be more excited. Hailey writes amazing mm fantasy (and urban fantasy) and I can’t wait to see what this world of nightmares and shadows holds. A fae and a witch have to go to the Otherworld to rescue a family member, even though they broke each other’s hearts in the past and shouldn’t trust each other.
A Magic So Deadly by Vasilisa Drake
RELEASE DATE: June 30, 2026
This is the much anticipated sequel to A Bargain So Bloody (we picked it for book club last year) and if you want a good witch x vampire pairing, you’ll want to catch up on this series if you need to. The first book ended in a huge cliffhanger and I’m anxious to get to this next one ASAP. In case you need a refresher, check out the ending of A Bargain So Bloody explained.
Mystery June 2026 Book Releases
As a romance reader, sometimes you just need a little murder. These all lean fun, queer, and a little dark-comic, so they’ll be perfect poolside reading material when you need a break from the swoons.

Teach the Torches to Burn by Christina Dodd
RELEASE DATE: June 30, 2026
While I missed a book in this series, I’m anxious to get to read more because what can be better than a series that explores the concept that Romeo and Juliet didn’t die and they had, in fact, a daughter. If you want some light historical mystery with a literary twist, this belongs on your list.
The Disaster Gay Detective Agency by Lev Rosen
RELEASE DATE: June 2, 2026
This sounds like the most fun thing. A group of 4 queer friends solving mysteries. I almost don’t need to know anything else. I’m sure there’s going to be lots of messes to track down and solve. Plus that cover is perfectly summery. I haven’t read this author before, but I certainly have been all about the campy fun books lately.
Self Help for Serial Killers by Asia Mackay
RELEASE DATE: June 16, 2026
This is the perfect mystery + comedy blend. This is the sequel to A Serial Killer’s Guide to Marriage, so be sure to read the first one. But how about the premise of serial killers having a midlife crisis. Aren’t we all? I get it.
Which One Are You Adding to Your TBR?
I know the first thing I’m cracking open, besides what I already read, is Hold Me Like a Grudge and Bright Dead Things. And then I’ll jump around the whole list of new releases because this month is looking amazing.
Let me know in the comments which one you’re adding to your TBR, or if you’re reading this later, which ones you ended up loving. And don’t forget to catch my most anticipated books of 2026 to see what else is on the horizon.
