And weirdly? You’re rooting for him.

Book Two: Butcher and Blackbird by Brynne Weaver

If Lights Out made you a little uncomfy but also intrigued, level up with this absolute chaos bomb. Butcher and Blackbird is a laugh-out-loud romcom… starring two serial killers.

They only kill bad people (think Dexter, but make it spicy), and their annual murder showdown is somehow the most unhinged meet-cute ever.

Book Three: The Mindf*ck Series by S.T. Abby

Tropes: Female serial killer, revenge, she falls for the FBI profiler hunting her

You made it to the final boss. This series (five novellas or one chunky paperback) is the ultimate test of your dark romance starter endurance.

Lana Myers is a serial killer with a purpose. She’s enacting revenge for what was done to her, and falling for the FBI profiler investigating her crimes. He doesn’t know it’s her. Yet.

Less romcom, more psychological thriller, this is the book that makes you want her to get away with murder. It’s bloody, tragic, twisted, and somehow still an amazing love story.
