In the mood for a romance that will test your comfort levels of right and wrong? Serial killer and the FBI investigator tracking her fall in love, except he doesn’t know she’s his target. The Mindf*ck series by ST Abby is dark and addictive, intense and all consuming. I couldn’t put it down and I know you won’t be able to either, if you’re up for reading something that is a bit outside of the normal romance parameters. Let’s take a dive into the series and get obsessed with me.

I have to write this as a series review instead of individual titles because I honestly read the first book and couldn’t put this series down. It took over my life for about a day and a half. I can’t even remember the last time I binged a whole series, let alone binged it so fast. I was reading every second I could. So I can’t really separate what happens in one book versus the other. So here’s the series as a whole.

First and foremost, if you don’t mind the dark subject matter (which I’ll get to in a bit) then…

What is the Mindf*ck series by ST Abby about?

Female serial killer falls for the FBI profiler investigating her case. If you’re a fan of Dexter, you’ll want to read this! She’s working her way through a list of men that did some pretty awful things in the past, to her and her family. And she has to try and avoid leaving any clues behind for her FBI boyfriend to find.

Revenge is a dish best served cold… Now that I agree with. It means they forget you’re coming for them, and their screams sound so much prettier when the time finally comes.

I had nothing to lose…until him.

I’m a faceless nightmare.
At least until I tell them the story they’ve pretended never happened.
But in the end, will Logan choose them? Or will we watch them burn together?

My thoughts

Lana is definitely a strong, kick ass character. But as you can expect, broken as well. I was pretty invested in her story, I found myself rooting for her to get her vengeance before getting caught. Especially once the pieces of the backstory started to fall in place. I was still not fully prepared for the impact of finally seeing the full flashbacks of what happened. When things get dark, this book doesn’t sugar coat it. Some pretty gruesome scenes ahead. Some heartbreaking, and some that will maybe leave you feeling vindicated for the heroine.

But let’s talk romance. Logan and Lana are perfect for each other. Darkness and light. He taps into Lana’s innocence that was crushed and never got a chance to blossom. Even without knowing. It was really fascinating watching that. Plus the chemistry between them is off the charts!

In conclusion

I’m extremely happy I followed my mood and picked up this recommendation. It’ll be a dark/serial killer romance I recommend for years to come. It’s a great series to binge around Halloween when you are ready to handle subjects a bit darker and scenes a bit bloodier. But any time is the right time to get lost in these characters. If this ever makes it to a TV screen I’ll be the first jumping with excitement to watch it.
