The Hook Up by Kristen Callihan, Spicy Sports Romance
A hot football romance, a hero who falls hard, and a heroine who doesn’t make it easy. My review of The Hook Up by Kristen Callihan.

The Hook Up by Kristen Callihan has the college football star, the girl who refuses to be impressed, a physical arrangement lie everyone can see through, and enough sexual tension to make the pages self combust. I had fun with this one, even when the insta love had me side eyeing the playbook a little.
This book is funny, sassy, sweet and sexy. ~ Under the Covers

The Hook Up by Kristen Callihan Book Review
I’ve been meaning to start this series for a while and it seems that I’ve been on that sports themed NA kick lately so it was the right time! As much as I’ve heard of Kristen Callihan in the past, this is actually the first time I read her! Shocking! The writing in THE HOOK UP is superb and I can tell I’ll need to rectify my error and go read the rest of her work. But this book wasn’t perfection for me as much as I wanted to be head over heels in love with it. Still, I enjoyed it a lot, couldn’t put it down for the most part and can’t wait to read the stories of all these guys!
Let’s talk about what I loved. This book is funny, sassy, sweet and sexy. The dynamics between the characters, and especially when it comes to friendships, are really well done and make you want to dive in the pages to hang out with the bunch. The sexual chemistry is off the charts! Be careful where you touch the page you may get burned! The characters when taken completely separate are really well sketched out and I couldn’t help but like them all.
So now for I wasn’t too sold on. Insta-love. I’m not a fan of the love at first sight, literally. Without having a true explanation why you love that person so much that they are completely changing your life because you want to be with them. And you haven’t exchanged more than 3 words with them. And my second problem, Anna’s attitude during the initial hook ups. I kinda thought she was a bit of a bitch when she didn’t need to be. My poor baby drew!
Would you like to save this?
This book follows a pretty standard new adult feel, there’s a little bit of angst and while characters are pretty mature for their age and being that they are surrounded by sports fame, I think there were still moments where their need for growing up a bit shit shown through. I still enjoyed a lot of it and I loved seeing the character growth in the book. Now I’m all set and ready to read about manwhore Gray.

About the Game On series by Kristen Callihan
The Game On series by Kristen Callihan is a sports romance series built around football players, intense chemistry, big friend group found family energy, and romances that are anything but casual. The Hook Up by Kristen Callihan kicks off the series with Drew and Anna’s story and even each book after is an interconnected standalone following the rest of the friend group.
Final Thoughts
In the end, The Hook Up by Kristen Callihan feels like the kind of book where the chemistry is amazing and it stands out. Drew is so fully gone for Anna, and the found family vibe makes you immediately want the next book. Was I completely sold on everything? No. Did I have a great time watching this hot football mess fall in love? Absolutely.
