Sex Toys … Through the Ages

How many of us have our 8 inches of fun stashed in our bedside table? Or some Ben Wa balls hidden in the knicker draw or even (in Fran’s case) a few chests of every knick knack, lube and outfit that LoveHoney and Ann Summers have to offer slid under the bed?
sextoysthruagesI imagine most of us have a little something when a real life penis either isn’t around or just isn’t doing its job properly, but…were our ancestors doing the same thing? Did Eve use her special handcrafted 10 inch dildo when Adam’s little fig leaf wasn’t transporting her to heaven and back?
Well according to my extensive and in depth research (I googled!) the answer is probably….YES! Sexy toys have been around it seems for as long as women haven’t been entirely satisfied, the first one seeming to pop up (pun intended) in the early Stone Age (30,000 years ago) and made of stiltstone. The Ancient Greeks loved them, they called them Olisbos and there are many references to them in plays, poems and pottery. Moving on to the 19th century, they were actually prescribed by Doctors as a cure for anxiety and hysteria!
When reading all this information, I was trying to think of any Historical Romance books where any sex toys are used or mentioned… I came up blank..

So Maidens, have you ever come across a Historical Romance where the hero or heroine skillfully wields a sex toy?

  3. Using sex toys will help you really learn about yourself. You’ll get first hand knowledge of what you like and don’t like, which in turn, will help you feel more confident when you’re in bed with a partner. And can even have the tendency to roll over to outside of the bedroom.
