Are you sick of young and sprightly hero and heroines? Welp, I’m pushing forty and I know I am. I want to see myself represented. And here is Shannon Mayer doing exactly that. This was a fun urban fantasy romp, with a heroine who is all out of fucks to give. She’s 40, divorced from her horrible husband and back home to Savannah and all its weirdness. It’s time to claim her life back on her own terms. She just didn’t realise doing so would involve quite so much running, stabbing and skeletons.

Lady Beast’s Bridegroom by Jude Knight

Retellings aren’t usually my cup of tea, but a gender swapped Beauty and the Beast story in a historical romance just can’t be passed up. Our heroine has been horrifically scarred and wears a mask to cover the damage. Our hero is one of the most beautiful, and impoverished, gentleman in the ton. They enter into an arranged marriage they both benefit from. It was such a lovely story, there was big friends to lovers energy, as despite sexy times happening fairly early, you can see the emotional connection grow as the book progresses.

The Dixon Rule by Elle Kennedy

Diana Dixon is juggling a lot, including an ex who won’t back off. Enter Shane Lindley, the new hockey player neighbor with his own ex drama. They strike a fake relationship deal to solve both their problems, leading to unexpected chemistry. With ballroom dancing, hilarious moments, but also warned of some triggers (domestic violence, death, sickness of a parent), this steamy romance keeps you hooked from start to finish.
