Halloween Hallmark movies for when you want spooky season without the scare

When it comes to Halloween movies, I was always a scary and horror girl. But as I get older I’ve realized I need way more cozy and can’t handle all that, usually. So now I don’t do horror in October. I still want to feel the season though. The decorations, the apple cider, the giant skeletons. I mean, I was one of those people going all out with Halloween decorations!

And that’s exactly the gap I found that Halloween Hallmark movies fill in. There aren’t many that focus specifically on Halloween or ghostly vibes, but I have found some to share with you if you also want the season without the scares.

So let’s get that apple cider ready for a watch marathon. Or if you’re more like me, I put these on while I do my cooking. Let’s go.

Before we get to the older ones, is there a new Halloween Hallmark Movie this year?

Yes, actually. I think Hallmark has been making more of an effort to add these to the lineup. And 2026 feels very on brand for Halloween. The Spirit of Halloween premieres on October 10, 2026 at 8/7c. It’s part of the Fall Into Love lineup, which you can see fully in my guide to this year’s Hallmark fall movies. But more on this movie later in this post.

Let’s get into the best Halloween Hallmark movies

The great thing is that most of these are already older and you can probably get them on demand, depending on your subscription. Here they are in publication order.

October Kiss

2015 · Ashley Williams, Sam Jaeger · WATCHED · ★★★

This is about a free spirited woman with commitment issues taking on a temporary nanny job for a workaholic single dad with two kids. As Halloween gets closer she starts falling for him. Not spooky, but it has the family vibes of Halloween. The decorating, the costumes, the cookies, the trick or treating. Chemistry is questionable on this one, but I loved the kids and the plot.

The Good Witch Halloween Specials

2015 to 2019 · Catherine Bell, James Denton, Bailee Madison

I’ve been wanting to watch these for a while! Hallmark ran five Good Witch Halloween specials: Something Wicked, Secrets of Grey House, Spellbound, A Tale of Two Hearts and Curse from a Rose. Cassie and the town of Middletown prep for the Harvest Festival, Grey House gets turned into a haunted house and the magic is soft throughout. The vibe is witchy Gilmore Girls.

3 Bed, 2 Bath, 1 Ghost

2023 · Julie Gonzalo, Chris McNally, Madeleine Arthur · WATCHED · ★★★

A real estate agents lists a house that’s been empty for years and finds a ghost from the 1920s that doesn’t want to leave. Ruby, the ghost, and Ana, the realtor, have so many parallels and end up helping each other sort out their lives. They both have controlling fathers and lost the love of their lives. This may not have the best acting, but it was one I kept seeing recommended. I really enjoyed it for the connection between Ana and Ruby and how they helped each other, more than the romance.

Haunted Wedding

2024 · Janel Parrish, Dominic Sherwood

Jana and Brian are trying to get married, and Angelique, a ghost in an eighteenth century wedding dress, is trying to stop them. The couple has to work together to save the wedding. It’s maybe the most haunted-house-ish but you know it will still not be frightening.

Haul Out the Halloween

2025 · Lacey Chabert, Wes Brown

This is a spin-off of Haul Out the Holly. New Halloween-obsessed neighbors turn Evergreen Lane into EverSCREAM Lane. Kimberly J. Brown and Daniel Kountz from the Halloweentown movies are in the cast too.

The Spirit of Halloween

2026 · Meghan Ory, Kevin McGarry

A bridal designer who hates Halloween is visited by three spirits of the season who will fix that. It’s basically A Christmas Carol but Halloween instead. I think it sounds perfect for the season.

And if you like that vibe, you can totally read some ghost romance books right after that.

The Haunted Harmony Mysteries

2023 to 2026 · Tamera Mowry-Housley, Risteard Cooper, Marco Grazzini · WATCHED · ★★★★

I’ve had so much fun binging this whole series and can’t wait for more installments. Gethsemane Brown is a music teacher and amateur sleuth in her free time with the help of a resident ghost, Eamon, as they solve murders in an Irish village. The ghost sidekick (and other ghosts that pop up) make this a cozy and soft rec for the season. And it’s always a good time for a little murder solving. Plus the setting in this one is just beautiful.

Where to watch Halloween Hallmark movies?

The new ones always premiere on the Hallmark Channel, which you have to check your cable provider or streaming platform of choice. They are available on Hallmark+ the next day, as is the back catalog, so that’s an easy option if you’d like. I recently discovered a more budget friendly option since I no longer keep cable or a large TV subscription, I’ve been using Frndly (not affiliate) and casting to my TV. Works like a charm. A year of that was cheaper than turning on Sling for the “season” (October through December).
