Dear Santa…
It’s me, Frankie Turner from Never Gamble Your Heart. I suspect you are quite busy this time of year. I’ve calculated how many houses you must visit per minute to reach all the children who celebrate Christmas, and I must say, your stamina rivals that of a Greek athlete.
As you likely know, I’m currently a governess in the house of Mr. Jasper Jones, who owns Rockford’s Gaming House. I am also a spy, but let’s keep that between us, shall we? For Christmas this year, I’d like some patience. My employer is infuriating, irritatingly handsome, and eerily insightful—leaving me exasperated daily.
My mission requires going through his ledgers, but he’s made that unnecessarily difficult by being, well, suspicious of me. If he weren’t so busy catching me snooping, I might’ve already completed my task and escaped those dark, intense eyes that make me feel curiously warm.
Oh, and one more thing: if you’ve got a spare nose in that sack of yours, I know just the man who could use it. A certain Mr. Wallace recently declared in the papers that women lack the wit or constitution for mathematics. I fear he may soon trip and break his own nose.
