I discovered so many amazing books across genres, and I didn’t pick up a single dud. If you’re a Kindle Unlimited reader or thinking about joining, let me share some of my absolute favorites that made this year unforgettable.
Whether you’re in the mood for dark academia, swoony paranormal romance, or quirky fae adventures, this list has a little something for every type of romance reader. And hey, even if you’re not on Kindle Unlimited, these are must-reads worth buying outright!

Why 2024 Was My Kindle Unlimited Year
If you’re wondering whether Kindle Unlimited is worth it, let me break it down: you need to read about three books a month to justify the subscription cost. Some years I didn’t hit that goal, but 2024 was different. Between exploring new authors and diving into fresh subgenres, I found myself constantly hooked. And with the League of Lusty Ladies book club relaunching as a Kindle Unlimited club in 2025, I’m making it a priority to keep discovering hidden gems.
Favorite Kindle Unlimited Reads 2024
Here are the books that made my 2024 reading experience unforgettable:

Phantasma by Kaylie Smith
If you’re an OG paranormal romance fan, this ghost romance is a must-read. The heroine is a necromancer entering deadly trials in a haunted house to save her sister, and the hero is a ghost who teams up with her. Dark, gritty, and full of high stakes, it’s the kind of book that makes you swoon and bite your nails at the same time.

Nocticadia by Keri Lake
This dark academia Gothic romance has everything: a forbidden professor-student dynamic, secret societies, and a secluded island setting dripping with atmosphere. It’s a standalone with a mystery that kept me guessing (and a hero that made me swoon).

Fae Flings and Corset Strings series by Tessonja Odette
A fantasy romance series that feels like Bridgerton meets fae lands. The first book follows two rival authors—a human who writes fae smut and a fae poet—on a book tour through magical lands. Their banter, competitiveness, and eventual romance made this one of the most fun reads of the year.

Immortal Soul Series by Kathryn Ann Kingsley
Set in 1897 Boston, this dark paranormal romance duology gave me major Jeaniene Frost vibes. The heroine, cursed to kill with her touch, finds unexpected solace in a vampire king (because you can’t kill what’s already dead). Atmospheric and emotional, it’s everything you want in a Gothic romance.

The System Series by Madison Fox
Ever wanted a romance featuring masked gamer heroes? This series follows three popular YouTube streamers known for their anonymity and spice-filled personal lives. My favorite book so far is about a gamer hero living a double life as he falls for a heroine who doesn’t know his secret.

Whitney G.’s Romances
The Forbidden Wishes Series
These taboo, forbidden romances are messy, dramatic, and impossible to put down. The first book features a love triangle with a sister’s boyfriend, and the second dives into a student-teacher dynamic. If you’re into high-drama, angsty reads, this series is for you.
Forever Writing You
This sweet second-chance novella is perfect if you’re doing the Romanceopoly reading challenge. It’s short, emotional, and gives you all the feels.
Wasted Love with You
This romantic suspense with a hint of mafia vibes had me completely hooked. Be warned—it’s the first part of a serial, so it ends on a cliffhanger, but it’s worth diving into for the juicy drama. If you’re like me and love addictive, high-stakes stories, add this to your list.
Join the League of Lusty Ladies
Exciting news: the League of Lusty Ladies book club is back for 2025, and we’re going all-in on Kindle Unlimited! Each month, we’ll read and discuss one KU title, rotating between fantasy romance, paranormal romance, and historical romance. January’s pick is A Kiss of Iron by Clare Sager, a fantasy romance I adored. Discussions will happen on Substack, so make sure you’re subscribed and download the Substack app to join the live videos.
