I will fully admit that I spent the past week obsessing over the Netflix show Money Heist and that’s made me go on the look out to see if there are romance books that center a robbery as the plot, or even feature a group of misfits on a mission. What is a caper?

A goofy little joke or prank, a crime, or a ridiculous adventure is called a caper.
A caper can also be an outlandish crime spree or wild activity. Caper novels feature a thief or thieves and you usually see the crime being played out. A bit more humorous and light hearted.
What about heist novels?
A heist novel’s plot revolves around a large scale robbery or theft which requires a lot of planning and a crew with a variety of skills and from different backgrounds usually. Think Oceans 11, or if like me you binged Money Heist. You can expect to find found family and lovable anti-heroes. And while they can be humorous, they tend to have a grittier tone.
