Small town romance books you need to visit!

Who else adores the cosy vibes of a small town romance? Or discovering the the spicy antics of small town residents? I know I do. In this list we dive into the small town trope and give you some recommendations…including some paranormal small town romance books!

Visiting small town romance!

Lets start at the beginning. What are small town romance books? Small town romances are all about where a romance is set. If you have a romance set in small town or community, where everyone seems to know everyone else then it’s a small town romance. Traditionally these romances have a certain vibe, they’re cosy, sweet and heart warming, with authors likes Jill Shalvis and Robyn Carr. If you like your books seasoned with a bit more spice, you don’t have to look away from the small town genre. The Sarina Bowen book on our list is deliciously steamy.

This does mean I now never go to any small town in America. Now, the stereotype is that romance books give people – especially women – unrealistic expectations of romantic relationships. Now, I refute that completely. I love romance books, they don’t give people unrealistic expectations, they give them expectations that they should be treated with respects and be emotionally and physically fulfilled. Having said that I am convinced that small town America is choc full of gorgeous (and possibly bearded) men who are dying to give me orgasms and just need me to love them. If it’s not true, please don’t tell me.

So, if you have read all of the popular small town romance books like Elsie Silver and Devney Perry, we have put a list together of some of small town romances you need to take a look at. If you have any recommendations for us let us know in the comments, we are always after more small town romance books.

Single-minded drive earned Roland Miles success—and cost him his first love. When his marriage to Zoe ended, he did the only thing he knew. He dove into work to put his heartbreak behind him.

After discovering his family might lose their land, Roland comes home to help sort out the mess. But between his brothers’ antics, a baby sister who’s all grown up, and a father keeping secrets, complicated isn’t even the half of it.

And then there’s Zoe.

He didn’t come home looking for a second chance with her. But the more time they spend together, the more he realizes what they lost. What they could have again.

Truth or Beard

by Penny Reid

Penny Reid brings us a smart, funny small town romance. Expect a strong heroine, a grumpy hero and enemies to lovers vibes!

Beards, brothers, and bikers! Oh my!

Identical twins Beau and Duane Winston might share the same devastatingly handsome face, but where Beau is outgoing and sociable, Duane is broody and reserved. This is why Jessica James, recent college graduate and perpetual level-headed good girl, has been in naïve and unhealthy infatuation with Beau Winston for most of her life.

His friendly smiles make her tongue-tied and weak-kneed, and she’s never been able to move beyond her childhood crush. Whereas Duane and Jessica have always been adversaries. She can’t stand him, and she’s pretty sure he can’t stand the sight of her…

But after a case of mistaken identity, Jessica finds herself in a massive confusion kerfuffle. Jessica James has spent her whole life paralyzed by the fantasy of Beau and her assumptions of Duane’s disdain; therefore she’s unprepared for the reality that is Duane’s insatiable interest, as well as his hot hands and hot mouth and hotter looks. Not helping Jessica’s muddled mind and good girl sensibilities, Duane seems to have gotten himself in trouble with the local biker gang, the Iron Order.

Certainly, Beau’s magic spell is broken. Yet when Jessica finds herself drawn to the man who was always her adversary, now more dangerous than ever, how much of her level-head heart is she willing to risk?

Well Met

by Jen Deluca

Who can resist a romance set at the Renaissance Faire? With a heroine with Shakespeare opinions and a stoic hero who just needs to have a little fun? I know I certainly can’t!

Emily knew there would be strings attached when she relocated to the small town of Willow Creek, Maryland, for the summer to help her sister recover from an accident, but who could anticipate getting roped into volunteering for the local Renaissance Faire alongside her teenaged niece? Or that the irritating and inscrutable schoolteacher in charge of the volunteers would be so annoying that she finds it impossible to stop thinking about him?

The faire is Simon’s family legacy and from the start he makes clear he doesn’t have time for Emily’s lighthearted approach to life, her oddball Shakespeare conspiracy theories, or her endless suggestions for new acts to shake things up. Yet on the faire grounds he becomes a different person, flirting freely with Emily when she’s in her revealing wench’s costume. But is this attraction real, or just part of the characters they’re portraying?

This summer was only ever supposed to be a pit stop on the way to somewhere else for Emily, but soon she can’t seem to shake the fantasy of establishing something more with Simon, or a permanent home of her own in Willow Creek.

Irresistible

by Melanie Harlow

available on kindle unlimited

A single dad. An age gap. A nanny heroine. This book has got all the delicious tropes you need to satisfy your small town romance craving!

I don’t have time to fall in love—I’m too busy trying to run a business, keep the red socks out of the white laundry, and get the damn pillowcases on without owing a dollar to the swear jar.

Sure, Frannie Sawyer is beautiful and sweet, but she’s twenty-seven, the boss’s daughter, and my new part-time nanny—which means she’s completely off-limits. It’s bad enough I can’t stop fantasizing about her, what kind of jerk would I be if I acted on the impulse to kiss her?

(Exactly the kind of jerk you’re thinking.)

Actually, I’m worse than that—because I didn’t stop with a kiss, and now I can’t stay away. She makes me feel like myself again. She reminds me what it’s like to want something just for me. She’s everything I ever needed, but nothing I ever imagined.

I’m a former Marine. I should have had the strength to resist her from the start.

But I didn’t. And now I have to choose between the life I want and the life she deserves.

Even if it means giving her up.

Things We Never Got Over

by lucy score

If you want something cute as hell, with a grumpy-sunshine dynamic then this is the perfect small town romance for you.

Bearded, bad-boy barber Knox prefers to live his life the way he takes his coffee: Alone. Unless you count his basset hound, Waylon.

Knox doesn’t tolerate drama, even when it comes in the form of a stranded runaway bride.

Naomi wasn’t just running away from her wedding. She was riding to the rescue of her estranged twin to Knockemout, Virginia, a rough-around-the-edges town where disputes are settled the old-fashioned way…with fists and beer. Usually in that order.

Too bad for Naomi her evil twin hasn’t changed at all. After helping herself to Naomi’s car and cash, Tina leaves her with something unexpected. The niece Naomi didn’t know she had. Now she’s stuck in town with no car, no job, no plan, and no home with an 11-year-old going on thirty to take care of.

There’s a reason Knox doesn’t do complications or high-maintenance women, especially not the romantic ones. But since Naomi’s life imploded right in front of him, the least he can do is help her out of her jam. And just as soon as she stops getting into new trouble he can leave her alone and get back to his peaceful, solitary life.

At least, that’s the plan until the trouble turns to real danger.

The Road to Rose Bend

by Naima Simone

The start of a spicy small town romance series. Expect growly alpha farmers, smart heroines and more sexual chemistry than you can shake a stick at.

If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the orchard.

The last person Griffin Shipley expects to find stuck in a ditch on his Vermont country road is his ex-hookup. Five years ago they’d shared a couple of steamy nights together. But that was a lifetime ago.

At twenty-seven, Griff is now the accidental patriarch of his family farm. Even his enormous shoulders feel the strain of supporting his mother, three siblings and a dotty grandfather. He doesn’t have time for the sorority girl who’s shown up expecting to buy his harvest at half price.

Vermont was never in Audrey Kidder’s travel plans. Neither was Griff Shipley. But she needs a second chance with the restaurant conglomerate employing her. Okay—a fifth chance. And no self-righteous lumbersexual farmer will stand in her way.

They’re adversaries. They want entirely different things from life. Too bad their sexual chemistry is as hot as Audrey’s top secret enchilada sauce, and then some.
