My Most-Anticipated 2025 Holiday Romance Books
This list is personal. These 5 are the 2025 holiday romance books I’ve added to my must read TBR the moment they were announced or, let’s be real, I saw the cover. Here’s what I’m most excited to read this year.

The Bright Side of Christmas by Morgan Elizabeth
October 23, 2025 | Small Town, Grumpy Sunshine
If you loved Big Nick Energy like me, you already know Morgan Elizabeth is the queen of festive and sweet romances and this one kicks off her brand new Holly Ridge series. Think: a holiday-obsessed town, a sunshiney overachiever trying to out-decorate her grumpy new neighbor, and a battle of Christmas lights that turns into slow-burn tension. He’s a broody songwriter with writer’s block. She’s the head of the decorating committee. And yes, he hates Christmas. Chaos (and kissing) guaranteed. It’s like a Hallmark movie, but even better.

Not in the Christmas Plan by Etta Easton
November 20, 2025 | Holiday Novella | Second Chance, Forced Proximity, Type A Heroine
From the author of The Kiss Countdown comes a cozy novella that’s pure holiday rom-com energy. When Eve’s sister goes into early labor, her holiday to-do list suddenly includes prepping the perfect Christmas home with help from the one man she’s been avoiding. Grant is her brother-in-law’s annoyingly charming brother and the star of a peppermint-flavored kiss she never forgot.

A Mannequin for Christmas by Timothy Janovsky
September 30, 2025 | Magical Realism, Queer Romance, Barbiecore Vibes
If you ever wished Ken and Allan got their own holiday romance, this one’s for you. Henry makes a wish for the perfect man and wakes up to find the vintage shop mannequin has come to life. Aidan is hot, clueless, and on a magical deadline: find true love before New Year’s or turn back into plastic. Cue some holiday chaos, crash courses in being human, and one seriously unexpected love story. This kind of reminds of the movie Frosty and I’m here for it!

Merrily Mine by Jennifer Chipman
November 21, 2025 | Holiday Novella | Snowed-In, Brother’s Best Friend, Cowboy Romance
Every year demands at least one snowed-in holiday romance and the fact it’s Jennifer Chipman (who I’ve enjoyed reading before) just means it’s in alignment. When Emily’s quiet Christmas turns into close quarters with her older brother’s best friend, a newly divorced cowboy who’s suddenly looking real good in flannel, sparks fly fast. Set in the Best Friends Book Club world but totally standalone, this novella brings small-town heat, cozy vibes, and all the “off-limits” tension you crave.

Merry Me by C.R. Jane
October 7, 2025 | Second Chance, Forced Proximity, Wedding Weekend Drama
She thought she left the past behind until her ex shows up in a Santa suit at her sister’s Christmas Eve wedding. Merry Me is a swoony second-chance romance full of meddling grandmas, high school heartbreak, and one very inconvenient duet that reignites everything she tried to bury. Set in the Wrong Player universe but totally standalone, this one’s perfect if you like your holiday love stories with unresolved tension and a touch of mistletoe mayhem.

Holiday Romance Tropes Taking Over 2025
If your holiday TBR isn’t organized by trope, are you even reading seasonally? Here are a few themes popping up all over 2025’s holiday romance lineup and honestly, we’re not mad about it:
- Snowed-In: Blizzards, power outages, and conveniently placed fireplaces. This trope is a must-read.
- Grumpy Guy vs. Christmas Cheerleader: He hates joy. She owns 47 nutcrackers.
- Second Chances in Small Towns: ‘Tis the season to run into your ex at a tree lighting while wearing emotional baggage and a tinsel headband. It’s all about that Hallmark charm.
- Fake Dating During the Holidays: Family pressure = the perfect excuse to rope in a hot coworker or your ex-best friend’s brother.
- Holiday Weddings (and Other Poorly Timed Events): Nothing says romance like unresolved tension under the mistletoe at someone else’s event.
