You can’t swing a cat in PNR without knocking down a couple of vampires, but with so many of the suckers out there you can feel like you are drowning in them. Well, UTC is here to offer you a life line as we have trawled through our favourite series and have hand picked our top ten vampires for your perusal.
Sylvan from Hunted (Brides of the Kindred #2)
by Evangeline Anderson
How often do you get Space Vampires or Blood Kindred as they are known in the Brides of the Kindred series? Not too often, but it isn’t just his rarity that has put Sylvan in our Top Ten, his good looks (big blonde and beautiful) and gallantry has also had him muscling his way into our hearts.
A desperate girl on the run with nowhere to hide… A warrior who has made a vow never to claim a bride… Sophia Waterhouse is being Hunted and the only man who can save her is the one she fears the most…
Sophia Waterhouse has always been afraid of needles and vampires so there’s no way she wants anything to do with a modern day Count Dracula—even if he does come wrapped in the package of a huge Kindred warrior with blond hair and ice blue eyes. She’s only on the Kindred Mothership to participate in her sister Liv’s wedding and that’s all.
Sylvan is a Tranq Kindred who has made a sacred vow never to call a bride. After a devastating rejection on his home planet, his heart is a block of ice no one can melt—or so he thinks until he meets Sophia.
When their ship is forced down in the middle of a rugged mountain range Sophia and Sylvan are stranded. Running for their lives they have only each other to depend on. Will they give in to the intense attraction between them or will the evil hunting Sophia take its toll? You’ll have to read Brides of the Kindred Book 2—Hunted to find out.
Conall from Sin Undone (Demonica #5)
by Larissa Ione
So technically Conall is half werewolf and half vampire, but we are going to concentrate on his vampy half for this count down. Although he is a little cold at first you better watch out because when he thaws out he is hot enough to burn. Maybe that’s why they needed ice in a certain scene…
HER TOUCH IS DEADLY
As the only female Seminus demon ever born, master assassin Sinead Donnelly is used to being treated like an outcast. She spent decades enslaved, and now vows she’ll die before she’ll relinquish her freedom again. Then Sin’s innate ability to kill her enemies goes awry: She creates a lethal new werewolf virus that sparks a firestorm of panic and violence.
HIS HUNGER CAN’T BE DENIED
Half-werewolf, half-vampire Conall Dearghul is charged with bringing in Sin to face punishment for the plague. And she’s no stranger: He’s bound to her by blood, and the one sexual encounter they shared has left him hungering for her raw sensuality. Worse, Sin is the underworld’s most wanted and Con soon learns he’s the only one who can help her . . . and that saving her life might mean sacrificing his own.
Mikhail from Dark Prince (Dark Carpathians #1)
by Christine Feehan
So, I chose Mikhail for our countdown because who doesn’t love a prince? But, honestly I am a little bit of a Carpathian whore, because I loved all of them. Dark, intense and powerful the Carpathian men love and fight with intense devotion, it’s hard not to fall in love with all of them.
Enter the enchanting world of the Carpathians, where dark adventure, mystery, and love await, and the desires of two daring hearts unite in one irresistible passion.
A telepathic hunter of serial killers, Raven Whitney helps catch some of the most depraved criminals. But her work keeps her from getting close to others, and has drained her body and spirit. In need of rest and rejuvenation, she embarks on a vacation far from home.
Mikhail Dubrinsky is the Prince of the Carpathians, the powerful leader of a wise and secret ancient race that thrives in the night. Engulfed by despair, fearful of never finding the mate who can save him from the encroaching darkness, his soul cries out in loneliness. Until the day a beautiful voice full of light and love responds, softly soothing his pain and yearning.
From the moment they meet, Raven and Dubrinsky are helpless to resist the desire that sparks between them. But just as fate unexpectedly brings these life mates together, malevolent forces threaten to destroy them and their fragile love. Yet even if they survive, how can these two lovers—Carpathian and human—build a future together? And how can Dubrinksy bring Raven into his dark world without extinguishing her beautiful goodness and light?
Dorina “Dory” Basarab from the Dorina Basarab series
by Karen Chance
I have to sneak Dory in, she may only by half vampire in a world full of supernatural creature who are stronger than she is, but that just makes her wily and cunning. With her penchant for getting tangled in lethal situations and a truly terrifying temper Dory makes for some terrific and exciting reading. And lets not get into her boyfriend Louis Cesare, he deserves a spot on this Top Ten all by his sexy lonesome.
Dorina Basarab is a dhampir-half human, half vampire. Subject to uncontrollable rages, most dhampirs live very short, very violent lives. So far Dory has managed to maintain her sanity by unleashing her anger on those demons and vampires who deserve killing.
Now Dory’s vampire father has come back into her life. Her Uncle Dracula (yes, the Dracula), infamous even among vampires for his cruelty and murderous ways, has escaped his prison. And her father wants Dory to work with gorgeous master vampire Louis-Cesare to put him back there.
Vampires and dhampirs are mortal enemies, and Dory prefers to work alone. But Dracula is the only thing on Earth that truly scares her, so when Dory has to go up against him, she’ll take all the help she can get …
Blade from Kiss of Steel (London Steampunk #1)
by Bec McMaster
Blade; he is as sharp and deadly as the name implies. Blade is also the unofficial ruler of Whitechapel, lording over the poor and unfortunate both protecting and terrifying them. On the edge of becoming a ravenous killing machine because of his vampirism Blade’s edge of danger, intelligence and wit all combine to make him alluring and irresistible.
When Nowhere Is Safe
Most people avoid the dreaded Whitechapel district. For Honoria Todd, it’s the last safe haven. But at what price?
Blade is known as the master of the rookeries—no one dares cross him. It’s been said he faced down the Echelon’s army single-handedly, that ever since being infected by the blood-craving he’s been quicker, stronger, and almost immortal.
When Honoria shows up at his door, his tenuous control comes close to snapping. She’s so…innocent. He doesn’t see her backbone of steel—or that she could be the very salvation he’s been seeking.
Ethan Sullivan from the Chicagoland Vampires Series
by Chloe Neill
Ethan is slick and in control. Ruthless when he needs to be, after all he didn’t get to be Master of Cadogan House without being a little kick ass himself. He’s the epitome of a tall, blonde and handsome, with an air of class and sexuality about him that you can’t help but let it bring you to your knees. Of course, the smoldering green eyes and the strong jaw line help as well. Ethan stands out in a crowd of hot men that you can find in the Chicagoland Vampires series and will quickly shoot to the top of your book boyfriend list.
I was a grad student until Chicago vampires announced their existence to the world, and a rogue vampire attacked me, scared by the master of Cadogan House. To save me, Ethan Sullivan converted me. The Lord of the Hyde Park manor is tall, green-eyed, full of four centuries worth of charm. Suddenly I am handy with serious weaponry, and pursued by an unknown enemy.
Dmitri from Archangel’s Blade (Guild Hunter #4)
by Nalini Singh
If you like your vampires dangerous, slightly amoral and entirely sensual than Dmitri is the vampire for you. Literally exuding sex from his very pores Dmitri is utterly enthralling; a girl could die orgasmically happy in his arms…and the chances are you might.
The severed head marked by a distinctive tattoo on its cheek should have been a Guild case, but dark instincts honed over hundreds of years of life compel the vampire Dmitri to take control. There is something twisted about this death, something that whispers of centuries long past…but Dmitri’s need to discover the truth is nothing to the vicious strength of his response to the hunter assigned to decipher the tattoo.
Savaged in a brutal attack that almost killed her, Honor is nowhere near ready to come face to face with the seductive vampire who is an archangel’s right hand, and who wears his cruelty as boldly as his lethal sensuality…the same vampire who has been her secret obsession since the day she was old enough to understand the inexplicable, violent emotions he aroused in her.
As desire turns into a dangerous compulsion that might destroy them both, it becomes clear the past will not stay buried. Something is hunting…and it will not stop until it brings a blood-soaked nightmare to life once more…
Lothaire from Lothaire (Immortals After Dark #12)
by Kresley Cole
You don’t have to wait until book 12 to get a little bit of Lothaire time in the IAD series, Lothaire “The Enemy of Old” is a presence through out the entire series. He is of course an insane and evil part of the of the series but that doesn’t make Lothaire any less alluring. Maybe it is the slightly deranged pink eyes or his unpredictability but evil has never been so sexy.
In this thrilling tale of the Immortals After Dark, #1 New York Timesbestselling author Kresley Cole reveals secrets of the Lore, fierce realm of the immortals.
All Fear The Enemy Of Old
Driven by his insatiable need for revenge, Lothaire, the Lore’s most ruthless vampire, plots to seize the Horde’s crown. But bloodlust and torture have left him on the brink of madness—until he finds Elizabeth Peirce, the key to his victory. He captures the unique young mortal, intending to offer up her very soul in exchange for power, yet Elizabeth soothes his tormented mind and awakens within him emotions Lothaire believed he could no longer experience.
A Deadly Force Dwells Within Her
Growing up in desperate poverty, Ellie Peirce yearned for a better life, never imagining she’d be convicted of murder—or that an evil immortal would abduct her from death row. But Lothaire is no savior, as he himself plans to sacrifice Ellie in one month’s time. And yet the vampire seems to ache for her touch, showering her with wealth and sexual pleasure. In a bid to save her soul, Ellie surrenders her body to the wicked vampire, while vowing to protect her heart.
Centuries Of Cold Indifference Shattered
Elizabeth tempts Lothaire beyond reason, as only his fated mate could. As the month draws to a close, he must choose between a millennia-old blood vendetta and his irresistible prisoner. Will Lothaire succumb to the miseries of his past . . . or risk everything for a future with her?
Bones from the Night Huntress series
by Jeaniene Frost
Bones, bounty hunter and former prostitute has swaggered and dirty talked his way into UTC’s heart (and lady parts), we were powerless to resist his charm and good looks, and we haven’t even got started on his English accent. But, it isn’t just his beautiful six pack (and we don’t mean beer) that draws us to him, he is lethal, ruthless and fiercely protective of those he loves, how’s a girl to resist? Plus Chapter 32 ladies, nuff said.
Half-vampire Catherine Crawfield is going after the undead with a vengeance, aiming for the father who ruined her mother. Bones, a vampire bounty hunter, captures Cat, and agrees to train her until her battle reflexes are as sharp as his fangs. But a group of killers pursue them. Bones is as tempting as any man with a heartbeat.
Wrath from Dark Lover (Black Dagger Brotherhood)
by J.R. Ward
The Black Dagger Brotherhood is probably UTC’s favourite series; however, the number one spot could have been slightly different; if Ann was writing this it would have been Rhage as our numero uno or if it was Fran then it would have been John Matthew. However, I am writing this (Suz) and that means that the Blind King is number one. There is something about someone so powerful being slightly vulnerable (his blindness) yet no less deadly that makes me shiver, there is also his cruel good looks and banging body as well of course. But, all the Brothers have their individual traits that have us tumbling in love with them, but what unites them and makes us love them even more is their intense devotion to both their women and their friendships with each other. Our hearts just melt for them.
In the shadows of the night in Caldwell, New York, there’s a deadly turf war going on between vampires and their slayers. There exists a secret band of brothers like no other-six vampire warriors, defenders of their race. Yet none of them relishes killing more than Wrath, the leader of The Black Dagger Brotherhood.
The only purebred vampire left on earth, Wrath has a score to settle with the slayers who murdered his parents centuries ago. But, when one of his most trusted fighters is killed-leaving his half-breed daughter unaware of his existence or her fate-Wrath must usher her into the world of the undead-a world of sensuality beyond her wildest dreams.
Now it’s your turn! Who is your top vampire?

Talen, Dage, Jace, Connlain and Kane from Rebecca Zanetti’s Dark Protectors series. I’ll add Zane also because he’s turning out to be totally hot.
That is an impressive list and yay- Dory. I haven’t read a couple of those so I’ll just switch out a few for Rebecca Zanetti’s brother vampires and I love my not so serious Sci-Fi Alien Coletti Warlord vamps.
Nice work, Suz!
