Each of us girls have very definite tastes here at Under the Covers. We know what we like and we get excited about sharing this with you. We can’t help but share when our favourite books are coming out and want to share the joy with as many people as we can. And this is one of the ways we want to do it. Each month we will give you our pick of the bunch, the cream of the crop, the top shelf books! Basically, the ones that we are just itching for you to get your hands on. The kind of books where the year wait is always worth it; where you may have drawn plans to go a little Kathy Bates, but with less sledgehammer action and more hot cups of tea and custard creams – we don’t want to scare the muse away after all. These are the books we are just dying for you to read next month!
[new-release title=”A Duke in Shining Armor” author=”Loretta Chase”]
I love a historical romance and there are some great ones out in November. But, Loretta Chase’s A Duke in Shining Armour was so much fun, that I wanted to highlight it. This was a light-hearted historical romance romp with a lot of heart and the start of what looks to be a fantastic new series. So, if you are after a read that will put a smile on your face and leave you with the warm fuzzies, then I highly recommend that you give this one a try.
[new-release title=”Cherish Hard” author=”Nalini Singh”]
It’s no secret that I’ll read anything Nalini Singh writes. What usually happens is I tend to not even read her blurbs anymore because I just want to go in blind and I know I’ll want to read it no matter what. So imagine my surprise when I cracked open CHERISH HARD and the hero of this book is Sailor Bishop, Gabe’s brother. Gabe is the hero from ROCK HARD, my favorite book of the Rock Kiss series! Lots of squeeing in glee ensued. I’m beyond excited that we are getting the stories about all of Gabe’s brothers, and Sailor was the perfect opener. FYI, this takes place before ROCK HARD and Gabe is just a minor side character. If you love heroes that work with their hands, Sailor’s going to be at the top of your list. I know we all love the bad boys, but there’s still something dangerously sexy about a good boy with an edge. The stakes can be just as high for getting your heart broken with a good guy. Especially one that’s as driven and ambitious as Sailor. I fell for him and his romantic gestures with cactus, his Samoan tats, and even his love of the outdoors. The heroine was adorable and you can’t help but be rooting for her. She’s had to overcome bullying, the lack of love and support from her family, and making something of herself in spite of those around her while carrying a lot of responsibilities. She’s definitely a heroine to admire and this is the perfect real life romance. And the fact he’s younger than her and had a crush on the mystery bombshell redhead since he was 16 was just icing on the cake.
[new-release title=”Holiday Wishes” author=”Jill Shalvis”]
Although this is just a novella, I always look forward to Shalvis’ holiday stories. She always has the right balance of sweet and sexy and this book is no exception. Since this story is a second chance love story, there is some time spent on their history. However, it’s clear that these two have amazing chemistry from the very beginning of the book. Plus the Christmas touch all throughout this novella is a perfect start to get you in the holiday mood. I think if you’re a fan of Shalvis’s book, this one is a must read.
