I’m not really sure where this year has gone but I blinked and June is around the corner. Sometimes it feels the same when it comes to the realization that Under the Covers Book Blog has been around for 10 years now. It seems we’ve gone through changes along the way and we are so thankful you all have stuck with us through all of that!

But back to the books! 2020 and 2021 have not been the best years for reading. I read less than in previous years even though I still hit my goals. Only because I had made them way low though thinking I would blow past them. So that also means I’ve found a lot less winners. You probably know this by now, a 5 star from me has been extremely rare in recent years.

So here are 5 books that I’ve already read in 2021 that will make it on my list of favorite books of the year and I think you should put on your lists to check out.  Let me know in the comments what are some of your faves of 2021 so far.

From my list of most anticipated…

Lisa Kleypas doesn’t disappoint with the next book in the Ravenels series. This is the only one that isn’t out yet, comes out end of July, but you should add to your to read list now anyway. I mean, it’s Lisa Kleypas so it’s a no brainer. The queen of historical romance delivers the perfect book for fans of the Wallflowers series, but also with a strong and at the same time sweet heroine and the sweetest hero!

The one I didn’t see coming…

I picked this up on a friends’ recommendation and honestly because LOOK AT THAT COVER. It’s gorgeous! Plus the book was deliciously fun and just such an adorable and sweet good time.

The one I knew would grab my heart…

Let’s face it. Amy Harmon can write a beautiful story. I literally don’t even look at her blurbs anymore because I know I’ll want to read it and I know I’m going to love it.  This story was heartbreakingly beautiful. Raw emotions and a beautiful love story, I was swept up into this world.

The one I re-read…

I’m just too in love with this book not to mention it as one of the best reading experiences I’ve had so far this year. This is my third time reading it and I fell even more in love with Mercy and Riley. Mercy is my girl crush and Riley is the best!  Together they are perfect. I loved their story, plot, romance. Just everything. This is what paranormal romance should always be.

[new-release title=”Branded by Fire” author=”Nalini Singh”]

The series I’m in love with…

It should come as no surprise that a book from the In Death series makes it on this list. In fact I enjoy every book I read in this series. But I absolutely loved this one! If you haven’t started this series, do it in small chunks. I know it can be intimidating because there’s so many books, but in the end it’s so worth it!

Can’t believe it has been ten years, but you’ve all made it a wonderful ten years of book love. I recently re-read the Nalini Singh for a readalong and fell in love with them again. Love the In Death series, too, though I’m only about a dozen in. I’ll have to check out the Amy Harmon and Emiko Jean.
Wishing UTC more wonderful years!
