Hi, everyone! Fall is here, and it’s such a beautiful time of year. Hope you are enjoying it along with your reading time. Seriously, picking up your book or kindle and reading on a porch while the colored leaves fall from tree limbs, wrapped in a warm sweater and drinking some hot coffee (or cocoa) is the ideal way to spend these days!
The month of October completely got away from me, so in honor of Daylight Savings, I wanted to fall back into the month and let you know about some hot releases in m/m romance.
Always a favorite in the genre, T.J. Klune released “How to be a Normal Person” on Oct. 16. T.J. is known for having a distinctive voice in his writing, paired with hilarious, laugh-out-loud comedy. I haven’t had a chance to read this one yet, but it is in my TBR and I look so forward to doing so. It has gotten rave reviews, and I definitely could use some good romantic comedy to help with the longer dark hours of the season.
A new-to-me author, Santino Hassell, just released “Stygian” on Oct. 26. I have to admit, the cover alone drew me into checking this one out – it is simply breathtaking! It has amazing reviews so far as well. It is about a kid trying to find a place to fit in, to feel accepted, and he hopes to do that with the band, Stygian. When they go on a retreat to a mansion in northern Louisiana to try focus on new music, the eerie kicks in, and everything is not as it seems. I love paranormal, so this seems like the perfect read!
On October 27, Kate McMurray released “Such a Dance.” Set in 1927 New York, this novel tells the tale of vaudeville dancer and a mobster who meet in speakeasy just for men, where their lust for each other soon turns into something more. Wow – how amazing does that sound?! Set in one of my favorite eras, I cannot wait to read this!
On Halloween, fabulous author Charlie Cochet released a novella “Between the Devil and the Pacific Blue.” The title, the cover, and the blurb all have me highly intrigued! Here is the blurb to intrigue you as well:
For the last six months, Detective James Ralston has worked the night shift as security for the Pacific Blue Hotel, and every night at 2 a.m. his rounds lead him to the radio room where the handsome and mysterious Franklin Fairchild sits listening to waltzes as old as the hotel itself. James is drawn to Franklin, but Franklin is a man at the end of his rope, and James has no intention of getting caught up in whatever trouble Franklin is in. A heated encounter late one night sends James down a disturbing path and has him questioning everything around him, including his very sanity.
Looking ahead into November, it is the month of Thanksgiving, and I AM GIVING THANKS TO THE LITERARY GODS FOR THE BOOKS THAT WILL BE RELEASED! WOOHOO!! Soooooo many good ones to be sure!!
On November 10, one of my all-time favorites, Heidi Cullinan, is releasing the third book in her Minnesota Christmas series, “Winter Wonderland.” I love this series to pieces – so sweet, warming, and sexy as all get out. The characters are just wonderful, and it will be so good to visit with them again, just in time for the holidays. Paul, the adorable, lovable bear that he is, is getting his HEA, and he will find that in Kyle, a young twink who has his eye on Paul. Nothing is easy, though, and the obstacle of Paul’s family and their anti-LGBT ways will put on the pressure. As with all Cullinan’s books – even the light and fluffy ones have poignant messages.
Later in the month, on November 20, another of my absolute favorites, Damon Suede, is releasing his novel, “Pent Up.” *Takes a moment to compose myself* OMG, YES, HALLELUJAH – we are getting a Damon Suede book on November 20th!!!! GAH!!!!! Words cannot even express my excitement on this!!! Damon Suede – amazing author of Hot Head and Bad Idea – if you haven’t read them, please remedy that quick and do so now! – takes very careful time to write and publish, so it’s been two years since his last book came out, but THAT’S OKAY!! It will be worth the wait, I have no doubt! The cover was just revealed at UTC the other day (it’s gorgeous!), and the tag line leaves me wanting more, more MORE: PENT UP: Mix business with pleasure and take cover. AHHHH!!! The anticipation is literally killing me!
Then on November 30, the amazing Rhys Ford – yes, another of my favorites (yes, I have a bunch!) – is releasing her first book in a new series, “Fish Stick Fridays.” This one involves a bad boy in the truest sense of the word, a bookstore owner, an orphaned little girl, and violence and death (it is a Ford story, after all). Who wouldn’t want to read this?!
And lastly, another all-time favorite author of mine, Marie Sexton, is releasing “Winter Oranges” on Nov. 30. This is a paranormal romance set in today’s time, but features a man from the Civil War trapped in a time prison. My interest is definitely piqued!! Oh, also, twenty percent of the proceeds from this book will be donated to the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender (GLBT) National Help Center. A wonderful way to celebrate the season of thanks and giving.
