There are many things to get excited about for this weekend. A good game of football, the culmination of one teams’ journey to win the SuperBowl, hopefully no drama when it comes to the refs, the half time show, a great time watching the game with friends and/or family while eating your weight in guacamole and chips and drinking some beer. Oh, and lets not forget the commercials. I can’t wait to see some cute puppies! But as readers there’s another thing we can look forward to. The craving to read romance books featuring some sexy alpha male football players! It’s only natural, really. All that testosterone on the field makes for a perfect romantic hero. So we thought it would be a good time to share with you some of our favorite sports romances featuring football stars. Read them now to get in the mood for Sunday or read them after when you’re left needing to satisfy that craving.
The Wall of Winnipeg and Me
by Mariana Zapata
If you want your football romance to burn slow than you need to pick up The Wall of Winnipeg and Me by Mariana Zapata. This book surprised me, the hero goes through such a transformation as you go through, I started the book wondering how the hell he was supposed to win me over. By the end, I wanted to crawl all over him. As for Vanessa, I loved her. She was strong and driven, warm and friendly. No wonder Aiden started to open up. So, if you like sports romance, grumpy heroes, friends to lover stories or/and slow burn romances…you need to give this one a go!

The Perfect Play
by Jaci Burton
Play by Play #1
I remember embarking on the journey that has been the Play by Play series when this book first came out. I read it exactly this time of year, around Super Bowl. I wasn’t big into reading sports romances and this was an addiction. Over the years this series has delivered every single time. With a variety of sports and stories that always get me wrapped up and swoony, there’s really no better sports romance series out there than the Play by Play series. And bonus… you have several books that revolve around football to dive into now. They are fine read as standalones if that’s what you want to do. Plus, lets not forget Jed Hill on the cover of this iconic book!

Game for Love
by Bella Andre
Bad Boys of Football #3
Bella Andre is most known for her Sullivans series, but did you know that she also has a football series? In this sexier Contemporary Romance, Andre has a little fun with her characters. Football linebacker, Cole Taylor, wants nothing more than to fulfil his grandmother’s dying wish of finding someone to love. So his solution is to marry Anna Davis, a first grade teacher. As you can tell, this book isn’t meant to be taken too seriously. It’s a leap of faith for both characters that I think will leave you feel energized and liberated.

BOOK INFO
Released: January 18th 2016
Series: Down and Dirty Football #1
Published by Self Published
Pages: 300
From New York Times and USA Today Bestseller, Vi Keeland, comes a sexy new novel.
The first time I met Brody Easton was in the men’s locker room.
It was my first interview as a professional sportscaster.
The famed quarterback decided to bare all.
And by all, I don’t mean he told me any of his secrets.
No. The arrogant ass decided to drop his towel, just as I asked the first question. On camera.
The Super Bowl MVP quickly adopted a new hobby—screwing with me.
When I pushed back, he shifted from wanting to screw with me, to wanting to screw me.
But I don’t date players.
And it’s not because I’m one of the few women working in the world of professional football.
I’d date an athlete.
It’s the other kind of player I don’t date.
You know the type. Good looking, strong, cocky, always looking to get laid.Brody Easton was the ultimate player.
Every woman wanted to be the one to change him.
But the truth was, all he needed was a girl worth changing for.
Turned out, I was that girl.
Simple right?
Let’s face it. It never is.
There’s a story between once upon a time and happily ever after…
And this one is ours.

The Hooker and the Hermit
by L.H. Cosway and Penny Reid
Rugby #1
I know, I know. Shame on me for adding this book for this post but hear me out. I recently read this book and as you know it’s not quite Super Bowl material but English/British Football aka Rugby is just as sexy if not more. LH Cosway and Penny Reid did a great job with the hero in this book described as “the body of a gladiator and the face of a movie star” who they paired up with a social media expert. I expected this book to be cute but I didn’t expect it to be sexy nor did I expect to like it as much. American football or not, this is worth checking out.

When I Need You
by Lorelei James
Need You #4
While this series centers around a family and we get a bit of every type of book, this sports romance was my favorite of them all! The football star and the single mother cheerleader. I was all over this one and it’s certainly a sweet one that will put a smile on your face. I mean, really, how can you resist a big alpha male that can be sweet to an adorable kid?

Double Full
by Kindle Alexander
Nice Guys #1
I’ve read some m/m romances with football players but I couldn’t find one appropriate to feature in a rec list until I hit this series. I read Double Full years ago and it features the star of the college football team who is straight and gets all the girls, but he can’t fight his attraction to the male cheerleader of the team!

Play by play is a definite! I also liked hot stuff by carly phillips.
Awesome book covers!! So many great recommendations!! Shared on my socials!??
I have the Callihan, Force, Burton, and the Alexander books on my pile already and haven’t read them yet. I want to read that Zapata and the Leigh. I’ve read other sports romances from Burton and Callihan and liked them. I also like Jeanette Murray’s, Tracy Solheim, Tillie Cole football romances. Some standalone m/m cuties are Rush by Nyrae Dawn and Steamroller by Mary Calmes.
Angela, if you love Rugby romances, try Kat Lathan or Rosalind James. 🙂
I’ve read and loved 5 of the books you have listed.
