Haunted Blade by J.C. Daniels

This is a book that I have been looking forward to for ages! I love the Kit Colbana series, it’s just the type of UF I love; full of action, politics and an amazing heroine. Haunted Blade was a good addition to this series that had me glued to the pages as I anticipated what trouble would crop up next and what one of my favourite heroines would do about it. But, this series isn’t just all ass kicking in the requisite leather and a pointy sword, Daniels also gives this an emotional depth that can be missing in other series. Definitely a top shelf read and a series you should pick up if you haven’t already.

Archangel’s Viper by Nalini Singh

Guild Hunters is one of my favourite UF series – although it’s strangely morphed into a a mix of PNR and UF, something else I love about it – and so when a new release comes out I am all over it. And Venom…I’ve always been intrigued by him, his snake-like eyes, his polished GQ type exterior that hides a lethal killing machine. Sends shivers down my spine! And Sorrow aka Holly, the girl we met in the first book after being viciously attacked and changed into something new by a mad archangel. Now, at first I wasn’t sure about the pairing, I never saw them as a romantic couple, but I loved it. For the second time this year (I adored Silver Silence!) Singh has delivered a read I just couldn’t put down. All I can think of after reading this is…I want more!

Wildfire by Ilona Andrews

It wouldn’t be a best of list from me if Ilona Andrews weren’t included some where. I love their books, they have a style that seems suited especially to me. This year they brought out the last two books in the Hidden Legacy series, each one could have easily landed in ‘Best New Release’ as they were fantastic reads. However, what I loved, apart from the story, the world and all the characters (so everything!) was Nevada and Rogan. They are my favourite couple, not only do they have an explosive and sexy romance, they also know how to kick arse and take care of those they love. For me this team of two are my favourite couple of 2017.

Good Boy by Elle Kennedy and Sarina Bowen

The lovely Francesca chose Good Boy for me as part of a Pick it For Me Challenge. She opened my eyes to the wonder that is Blake Riley. Now, I am not one for sports romances, however, this big teddy of an ice hockey player stole my heart. He was like a big adorable puppy, I couldn’t help but fall in love with him. Everyone else can keep their broody, mysterious heroes, I’m happy with the funny, upbeat, sexy and adorable Blake Riley.

Stillhouse Lake by Rachel Caine

I’m veering away from romance with this one and into thriller territory. Thrillers and mysteries are fairly new territory for me, but I know an fantastic heroine when I read one. Caine’s nail-biting and scary thriller is intense as you see life through the eyes of Gwen Proctor, the ex-wife of a serial killer. She’s gone from clueless housewife to tough woman on the run, not just from the hate mail and the press, but from her ex-husband who is determined to make her into another one of his victims. Gwen was one tough cookie, trying to take care of her kids whilst always looking over her shoulder, I highly recommend you step into her twisted world!

Silver Silence by Nalini Singh

I don’t know if I am cheating picking Silver Silence as it’s a spin off Singh’s fantastic Psy-Changeling series. However, it is the first in her Psy-Changeling Trinity series. Loved. It. I had recently become a bit disillusioned with Singh’s books, but this year she has once again been on top form and my absolute favourite was this book. I can’t get enough of her adorable bears! So, if you are looking for a fantastic shifter PNR then this is definitely the one you need to reach for.

A Night to Surrender by Tessa Dare

I’ve been meaning to read this series for aggges and I finally picked it up as it was selected through my TBR jar. As soon as I finished the first one I immediately started reading the next, I couldn’t stop until I have devoured all the books, and then any other book by Tessa Dare that I could get my hands on. Ms Dare has acquired a brand new super fan this year!

Year One by Nora Roberts

Year One took me completely by surprise, I wasn’t expecting to love it as much as I do, I literally couldn’t put it down once I got started on it. It’s got magic, it’s got action, it’s got romance, perfect reading for me. I now can’t wait till 2018 so I can’t get my hands on the next book in the trilogy.
