The Devil’s Thief by Lisa Maxwell

I’ve got a few anticipated books for the month of October and I hate to say this but I’m in the same boat as last month with only have read one book so far.  Lisa Maxwell’s Devil’s Thief is worth mentioning for the fantasy readers. Maxwell dabbles on magic and time travel in this series which I thought is the best part.  Using time travel, Esta and Harte are on a mission to retrieve the Book of Mysteries and the elemental stone which may be the key to saving the magical world.  I love the back and forth of time and the side characters involvement on the same goal. I will say this book is even better than the first but I do suggest to read book one first.  Both The Last Magician and this book, The Devil’s Thief is worth checking out if you like fantasy and time travel.

Montana Dreams by Kim Law

Kim Law always manages to capture my heart in one way or the other and did so again with Montana Dreams. This book is a story of an unlikely match, but as fate would have it, they are as perfect as can be.  There’s plenty of dislike, and tension between Ursula and Jaden that I wasn’t sure if I would like them. But they did make me laugh and halfway through the book they end up winning my heart. This book is a sweet, funny, and a quick read. If you like contemporary reads with good humor, you need to try this out.

Down with Love by Kate Meader

I recently finished Kate Meaders new book, Down with Love. It’s the first book in her new series, Love Wars. It looks like this will be a trilogy about divorce lawyers who doesn’t believe in love, much less a happily ever after. In this first installment, the first lawyer falls for the wedding planner. Yep. It’s an enemies to lover trope and I totally loved it. As your typical Meader novel, Down with Love has good humor, loveable characters and a story that will win your heart. If you haven’t read any of this author’s work, this a good book to start with.

The Start of Something Good by Jennifer Probst

Jennifer Probst’ Start of Something Good is the first book in her new series called Stay.  I was very excited about this book as Ive always loved Ms. Probst Small Town/Contemporary novels since her last series had recently ended.  I’m glad I have a new series to follow.  SOSG is a city girl meets farm boy story and it totally captured my heart.  It’s a great weekend read for anyone who likes light romance books with a broody and sexy hero.

My Dear Hamilton by Stephanie Dray and Laura Kamoie

I just finished My Dear Hamilton by Laura Kamoie and Stephanie Dray, and I was nothing but enthralled.  Kamoie and Dray did an amazing job portraying Eliza Hamilton’s story.  It’s even a better read than their last Historical Fiction, America’s First daughter.  I just hope these duo keep writing more untold stories of the women in our history.
