Kingdom of the Wicked by Kerri Maniscalco

Kerri Maniscalco has a new series and she knocked it out of the park! Oh boy, what can I say about this book and what made it stand out? Let me make it simple; mystery, murder, sexy demons, powerful witches, and lots of magic!

A Bad Day for Sunshine by Darynda Jones

A Bad Day for Sunshine is one of the few books that stood out for 2020. It may be one of the few 5-star ratings I gave for the year. This book made me feel at home. The mystery, suspense, family drama, love interest, and most of all, the quirky characters and humor will suck you right in. While this book is entirely a different world, Jones managed to bring a similar vibe as her previous series which readers cannot get enough of.

The Awakening by Nora Roberts

After a semi disappointing ending of The Chronicles of One, I was reluctant to read another Roberts’ novel but the world she built is pretty amazing and I just can’t resist but to dive into another. This one is about a plain Jane finding out about a mystical world she happens to be connected to. It’s quite a wild ride. Roberts delivered another magical world to get lost in making this book my top read for 2020.

Strange Love by Ann Aguirre

I had to get an alien romance on here somewhere, we all know that I have an ongoing love affair with all things alien and sexy. And this book! Boy oh boy. If anyone else has watched Predator and wondered how good he would be in bed, then this is the book for you. Only, our hero may look fierce, but he’s an absolute cinnamon roll which just made everything even more delicious. If you want something a little strange (haha see what I did there?) but entirely wonderful, I’ve just found your next read.

Chasing Cassandra by Lisa Kleypas

Another year, another absolutely hit from Lisa Kleypas. I adored both the hero, Tom Severin who has a ruthless and cold hearted reputation and doesn’t quite understand how to process emotions. Then we have Cassandra, who was lovable and kind a complete foil to Severin’s personality. As always, Kleypas has put pen to paper (or key to word processor) and created magic.

Do You Dream of Terra Two? by Temi Oh

Temi Oh is a debut author and she has really hit the ground running with Do You Dream of Terra Two? It was a mix of space opera and psychological study and the cast of characters were diverse and complex. If you want something different and lyrical to read, I definitely recommend it.

Season of the Wolf by Maria Vale

I thought that Forever Wolf was the last book in this series. Never have I been glad to be so wrong! Season of the Wolf was exactly what I would expect from Maria Vale; powerful and unique.

Emerald Blaze by Ilona Andrews

Just because I am Ilona Andrews’ number one fan, it doesn’t mean that I can’t be objective about how amazing their books are! Promise! And Emerald Blaze was amazing. The latest book in the Hidden Legacy series Emerald Blaze was a spellbinding adventure from beginning to end. Full of action, magic, humour and romance, the fast-paced story kept me glued to my kindle screen until the very last page.

When a Rogue Meets His Match by Elizabeth Hoyt

I feel like I’ve been waiting for this book for such a long time! I had some high expectations, but Hoyt really impressed me with the unique premise of this book. While not typically my style, this story excited me and opened my eyes to a different style. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Chasing Cassandra by Lisa Kleypas

In the past, Kleypas has written some of my all-time favorite heros and in the sixth book of the Ravenels, Kleypas pens another amazing one in Tom Severin. At first glance, I wasn’t sure that he would do it for me, but I love the gentle and slow romance that blooms between him and Cassandra. There’s no doubt that Kleypas writes beautiful romance and this one is no exception.

Chain of Gold by Cassandra Clare

As a fan of Cassandra Clare and this world for many, many years, I wondered how she would be able to reinvent herself yet again in the first book of The Last Hours series, but somehow Clare is able to write another compelling story that gives loyal readers like me a sense of familiarity with the world, but it’s still different enough that it’s still unique. With amazing characters and worldbuilding, I always find myself looking forward to a Clare release every year and this one didn’t disappoint.

Death of a Wicked Witch by Lee Hollis

For two months in a row, my top read has been my Lee Hollis. I guess there’s no denying now that they are my favorite Cozy Mystery author. Since this one had a Halloween theme to it, it was extra fun and I enjoyed reading about the mystery and the characters. I really can’t recommend this series enough. Do yourself a favor and read it!

Death of a Blueberry Tart by Lee Hollis

As soon as this book fell into my hands, I started to read it. I can’t help it. I can’t resist a Lee Hollis book! I love the characters and the mysteries that these two fabulous writers create. There’s such a charming nature about all the characters, but what keeps things interesting is the fact that you don’t know who is behind the murders. It can be anyone! And Lee Hollis always manages to keep me on my toes no matter what the situation may be. There’s no wonder why they are amongst my top favorite Cozy Mystery authors!

Irresistibly Yours by Lauren Layne

The thing I like about Lauren Layne’s writing is that she comes up with some intriguing premises and this book had one that hooked me right in. While I do sometimes like some books more than others, this one was a delightful read that would be great to enjoy during the summer. After this, I will definitely be looking to read more of Layne’s writing.

Egg Drop Dead by Vivien Chien

This book turned out to be a lot better than expected. With interesting characters and some intriguing mystery, EGG DROP DEAD kept me glued to the pages. I liked this book so much that it’s become me favorite in the series and if you haven’t tried this series and love Cozy Mysteries, particularly foodie ones, then you definitely need to pick this one up!

Lord of Scoundrels by Loretta Chase

There’s perfect chemistry between the main characters and if you like jerk heroes I think Sebastian will satisfy your needs. But I love that underneath it all he’s just a boy that never got any love and is desperate for it. Such a tender center with a prickly exterior.  Plus he whispers sexy things in Italian so I’m in heaven.

We also get a strong, badass female and it was the only way it could’ve worked.  She’s every bit as strong as Sebastian and can hold her own with him. She goes toe to toe with him.  I couldn’t get enough of the chemistry and the sparks between these two.  Every second of this was a delicious experience.  They may be one of my favorite couples of the year!
