When I sat down to think about the books I’ve re-read (or I’m dying to) there are a few that jump up screaming ME, ME… pick me!  But I feel like we’ve probably beat you over the head with our love and appreciation for them.  Just so I can get it off my chest, here goes.

The Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R. Ward

Let me start this off by saying I am not a re-reader.  There aren’t many books I NEED to experience again.  But the Black Dagger Brotherhood has been one of my go-tos.  I’ve re-read this series 3 times.  I own it in all formats.  I prefer to re-read by re-listening to Jim Frangione bring the brothers to life.  There are of course books that I love more than others.  I especially love re-reading DARK LOVER, LOVER ETERNAL and LOVER MINE.  Dark Lover because it’s the intro to the series, and Wrath is all kick ass and testosterone in this one.  The series has come a long way from that book, in my opinion it’s gotten a lot better and more intense.  But the joy I experience reliving that book it’s as if I was reading it for the first time.  The other two?  I think it’s my fascination with JM.  Lover Eternal was the first book were he was introduced as a pre-trans struggling with lots of issues and needing to be rescued and shown a new life.  And Lover Mine is the culmination of his HEA for now.  I love and adore that mute vampire!

Immortals After Dark by Kresley Cole

This series, I remember when I was first going through reading this series (much to Annie’s insistence) and falling in love for the first time.  I hadn’t read anything quite as perfect as this series managed to combine when it came to paranormal books.  It quickly became one of my go to series because the mix of romance, action, world building and humor hooked me from the get go.  And it’s a series I’ve re-read as the books have now been released on audio.  Because again, why wouldn’t you own your favorite series in multiple formats and enjoy them in all ways? 😉

Pride and Magnus Pack by Shelly Laurenston

I’m talking the earlier books here.  I’ve grown disenamored with this series and I had to go back and re-read what made me fall in love.  The witty banter, the over the top humor, the animal like heroes.  I loved everything about Ms. Laurenston’s writing in the early days of these two series and I could literally re-read these whenever I’m in a slump or need a quick pick me up to get me in a good mood.

Lisa Kleypas…. Just About Anything by her

This countdown of re-reads wouldn’t be complete without Lisa Kleypas.  I love and adore all her books, whether historicals or contemporaries.  But I do have a soft spot for the Wallflower series.  This series brought back my love for historical romance.  Every time I read it it’s like revisiting old friends.  Wanting to find out more about them, that maybe I missed the first time.  And it never fails to make me smile.  When I need to be put in a good mood, I pick up one of her books!

A Knight in Shining Armor by Jude Deveraux

I leave you at last with a classic feel good romance.  Classic in the way that this story transcends time.  Originally published in 1989, I discovered it just in 2014.  Picked it up on a whim because everyone said how awesome it was.  To say I was apprehensive that I would be consumed by something where the writing might feel old or stagnant because I’m sure tastes have changed over the years.  Well, this might just be that go to book when I need my mood lifted.  Some people may not be happy with the ending.  To me the story is beautiful and I love experiencing it.  Just thinking about it makes me happy.

I love Shelly Laurenston, my most recent rereads have been the first 2 books in the Neighbors from Hell series by RL Mathewson.

I have yet to read RL Mathewson.

Sophia Rose

Only Ward and Cole would be rereads for me. The others are still waiting for my attention. Nice list!

Too many new and shiny things right? That’s the way I look at it. Except lately I’ve been getting disappointed with my new and shiny toys. 🙁

When you’re in the mood for something just a tad over the top and funny go for it. 🙂

I’m not one to reread, but the BDB and IAD would definitely be on my list if I did!

You should try it just once, with those series. I was never a fan of re-reading and when I re-read Dark Lover the first time (the first book I ever re-read other than Pride and Prejudice, but I don’t count my Jane Austen obsession) it gave me such a wonderful feeling, especially seeing things after I now know how things are doing with the brothers. Yeah, try it and see how you feel 🙂
