I have had Kindle Unlimited (KU) now for just under six months and for me it has been a great find. There hasn’t been a month, or even a week, where I haven’t downloaded a new book from KU. For me, it has helped me read books by authors that, in all probability, I wouldn’t have tried. Some reads have been successful and some haven’t, but overall it has been a positive experience. It also allows me to pass on any recommendations, so below are some of my favourite reads since I last checked in.

I have read some good stuff in the last few months, some of my favourite authors have had releases and I have found a few new series to dig into.

New Series & Standalones…

Don’t you just love it when you take a chance and it all works out? That’s what happened when I picked up Carnage by Sandra Neeley. It’s the first book in Whispers from the Bayou a PNR series set in Louisiana in the 1800’s. What drew me to try this series was that the hero wasn’t your usual vampire or werewolf but a gargoyle. I am glad I picked it up, Carnage, our gargoyle hero, despite looking like a bad ass was a really sweet hero Carolena, our heroine, wasn’t the only one who fell in love. After I read Carnage I also picked up her Avaleigh’s Boys series. Although that series was okay it ventured too far into cutesy land for me; I would definitely say that Carnage is Neeley’s best work.

Next up I tried a new series from an author I have read before and adored: Anna Hackett. I have finished her Galactic Gladiators series (available on KU) and have started on her Hell Squad series. Much like Galactic Gladiators, Marcus the first book in the series was action packed and full of steamy romance. If you like your romance full of gunfights, dangerous missions and raunchy sex then this is a must-read! Quick note, Marcus is free on Amazon and the rest of the books in the series are on KU.

Now, no I list create would be complete if I didn’t add some alien sci-fi romance to it! Luckily Tiffany Roberts has released a standalone sci-fi alien romance for us all to enjoy. It has two of my favourite things; aliens and a curvy heroine.

Sci-Fi Romance New Releases…

The last few months have been great for releases in series I already love. I am not going to talk about all the books, but I am going to highlight the ones I really loved.

Firstly, I we have Anna Hackett again. She is fast becoming one of my favourite sci-fi authors! Which, is shocking as her heroes tend to be human or at least very human-like aliens rather than the weird and wonderful aliens I normally adore. Imperator is the last in the Galactic Gladiators series and although I was sad to see it end, I was also ecstatic to be getting Galen’s book. This series is the perfect one to recommend to friends who don’t think they like sci-fi romance!

Next, I have to talk about Key to the Dead Fall by Susan Trombley. I caught so much flack from the UTC gals for this book. They took one look at the, admittedly awful, cover and some heavy judging came upon me. However, don’t let that put you off! Key to the Dead Fall is one of my favourites and I can’t wait to see what Trombley brings out next in the series.

Finally, the two books from the Valos of Sonhadra series, Iced by Regine Abel and Inferno by Nancey Cummings. I thought this series was over, but I am so glad that it is continuing and more books will now be coming out. New authors are even being added to the Valos of Sonhadra series and Tiffany Roberts will be bringing out a book in the series as well. I can’t wait!

If you love Aurora Rose Reynolds…

Confession: these aren’t really new releases, these books have been coming out for a while, I just hadn’t read any of them until very recently. I am talking about the Happily Ever Alpha World books. These books are spin offs by different authors from Aurora Rose Reynolds’ Until series. If you haven’t read any Aurora Rose Reynolds, that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy these books, as long as you like your alphas to be ALPHAS then these are the books for you.

If you have read the Until series the Happily Ever Alpha World books feature background characters you have seen in the Until series getting their HEAs. Not all of them are on KU; however, I have highlighted the ones that are below. Admittedly, I haven’t enjoyed every book in the Happily Ever Alpha spin offs, but I enjoyed giving them a go and trying to discover some new authors.

Just in case…my favourite was Until Nox by Layla Frost!

These are books that I haven’t read yet, but they are downloaded and ready to read on my kindle.

The first book was actually recommended to me by one of you guys. I’ve been trying to track whether this was on Facebook or a comment on a post, but I can’t find it! However, one of you fabulous readers recommended Slouch Witch by Helen Harper. I quickly looked it up and downloaded it; a book about a heroine who enjoys lounging on the sofa is a heroine I can identify with. Plus I love the cover! I plan to read it soon, so stay tuned.

L.H. Cosway is an author I really love, however, I am a teensy bit behind on her books. So, when I saw that both books in her Cracks Duet was on KU I quickly downloaded. I haven’t even read the blurb on this, but her work is usually quirky and thoughtful so I can’t wait to crack (hah did you see what I did there?) on with it.

Whispers from the Bayou is great, the second book has recently came out, which I also enjoyed. Happily Ever Alpha was a little hit and miss, but I did really enjoy Until Nox, I also enjoyed Until Susan, but that one is non-KU! ~ Suz

I’ve been sampling KU for their three month special so I’m glad to get your recommendations. I plan on trying the Ruby Dixons.

Loved Slouch Witch. It was funny. Hope you enjoy it, too.

Yes, Ruby Dixon is one of my favourites, you should try her Ice Planet Barbarians first, it’s my favourite of her series.

I will be getting on to Slouch Witch soon!

Love the Red Dragons series by Miranda Martin; it has fascinating world building. And it’s an extensive series in KU. If you can handle reverse harem, I enjoyed Ava Sinclair’s Bride series as well. IIRC, Michelle Diener is also in KU. And, of course, Ruby Dixon.

Thanks for the recommendations Emmel, I like the sound of Miranda Martin’s book, I will definitely be adding them to my TBR.
