Dear Santa 2024: Laurie London’s Plea to Santa
Today, we’re featuring a delightful letter from Laurie London, the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author known for her dark, sexy paranormal romances set in the Pacific Northwest. Laurie’s Iron Portal series is a captivating blend of romantic fantasy and paranormal elements, featuring a band of alpha male warriors with magical abilities and strong, confident heroines. Each of the four books in the series stands alone with its own happily-ever-after, and, as a fun fact, they all include spicy public encounters. Let’s dive into Laurie’s plea to Santa.
Dear Santa…
I’m writing to you this year in the hopes that you haven’t put me on the naughty list. Please, hear me out. I have reasons, good reasons for everything.
While it’s true that I write spicy stories about vampires who have a lot of sex because it helps them to control their aggressive natures. And stories about magic-wielding warriors who come through secret portals into our world, do violent things, and have a lot of sex. But they’re all very good people.
They fall deeply, madly in love with their significant others and would move heaven and earth to make them happy.
There’s no cheating.
No lying (for the most part).
No stalking (except to keep her safe).
No secrets (well, you can’t just tell her you’re a vampire on day one, can you?).
No killing (except when the bad guys die, and admittedly, it can get a little gruesome).
The only good people dying are those who die at the hands of the bad guys, who, see above, get what’s coming to them in the end, anyway.
So it’s okay.
The sex, yes, is pretty hot. But it’s not wrong and certainly doesn’t warrant me getting a lump of coal in my stocking.
It’s always consensual and respectful, and she usually gets satisfied first. Well, except that one time where she gives him a you-know-what in a club. And that other time when they have sex in public.
Actually, all of the books in the Iron Portal series have scenes where they have sex in public. But I didn’t plan it that way. You have to believe me. It was only when I went back through the books for marketing purposes when I realized, much to my surprise, they all had public sex scenes in them.
While the new series I’m working on now has more of a cozy vibe, they’re still spicy romances involving vampires, shifters, werewolves, witches, and even a few monsters. Monsters deserve to find love too, you know?
So, Santa, I truly hope you don’t put me on the naughty list for all of the reasons I’ve listed above.
And if Mrs. Claus would like a signed book for Christmas, I’ll leave one out for her with the cookies and milk.
Sincerely,
Laurie London
