London Spark has just broken up with her boyfriend when a handsome stranger hits on her at a bar. She has to focus her energy now on getting the family event hotel more clientele so she lies and tells him she’s dating someone. A few months later she lands the opportunity to work with a multi-million dollar company and turns out that the CEO is none other than her bar stranger. Now they have to work together and deal with their attraction while keeping things professional.
With an adorable cover like this one, I knew I couldn’t resist reading STARRY-EYED love. Even though I hadn’t read the first book in the series I dove in and I’m happy to report that you can read this book without reading the first.
All that aside, this is such a cute and perfect summer read. There’s a sweetness and innocence to this story that I really enjoyed. Maybe a bit understated and for a series that plays on “sparks”, they were a bit more tame in this one. But I honestly really loved the hero, Jackson. Yes, he’s a billionaire, but he’s also such a marshmallow and a good guy. His attraction to London and his determination to do things the right way was kind of cute and wholesome. There was a nice chemistry between the two of them that worked really well throughout the story.
And then there’s London and the sisters. I really loved the family dynamics in this one. In some ways I also identified with London and her need to balance where she fit in with her family business and her passion.
I’m not sure if this book has left me itching to read the first or run for the next one, but I may end up doing that next time one comes out. If you want something sweet to read in one sitting with great friendships and family closeness, then this may just be the book for you.
