February is Black History Month and we want to celebrate with the bookish community in sharing Black joy. Stories of love and happiness written by Black authors and/or featuring Black characters. I’m currently reading and loving MY DARLING DUKE by Stacy Reid, so if you haven’t read that and you like ugly/disfigured/scarred heroes and a fake relationship, then you’ll want to add this to your list. You’ll find a list of recommendations further down this page so don’t miss it. And on a serious topic, I’ll be reading HOOD FEMINISM by Mikki Kendall this month. I’ve seen so many amazing reviews for it and I can’t wait to dive in.
This is also the month of love. Valentine’s Day is around the corner and for some reason this makes me want to read all the historical romances. Plus it’s a perfect time for it since people are still binging Bridgerton on Netflix. Did you watch it yet? It was such a great show and I’m so excited that Season 2 has been officially announced. We’ve put together a list of books that you should add to your TBR if you’re having Bridgerton withdrawals and hopefully it includes some less talked about books that we are always raving about.
in bookish news… Gena Showalter announced the first book in a new paranormal romance series is coming out in May of this year and revealed the cover HEARTLESS. Jaci Burton also revealed the cover for THE ENGAGEMENT ARRANGEMENT, the second full length book in the Boots and Bouquets series. And lastly, another book I’m highly anticipating this year is THE BRIGHTEST STAR IN PARIS by Diana Biller! It has a new cover and I can’t wait to see what she does after that amazing debut in 2019.
