“There’s no doubt that Lara Adrian can write some sexy books.”
~ Under the Covers
After the success of Lara Adrian’s 100 series, she is now starting to write more standalone stories in this world. While I still tend to prefer her other series to this one, there’s still a lot of fun stuff to expect with this book.
I like that there’s a guaranteed HEA with each book. It eliminates the fear of cliffhangers (which I don’t always hate but for this genre, I prefer that it doesn’t have it) and provides readers with a more comfortable experience.
This hot read follows Gabriel Noble and Evelyn Beckham. Now to be honest, I had a difficult time getting into Evelyn’s character. She’s introduced as a very driven woman and her and Gabriel definitely don’t start off on the right foot. I know that this was intentional for the author, so that was why I didn’t quit so fast. But because of that faulty start, I think it also caused some stalling on my part to get behind this story. I think I also struggled in the beginning because of the first person narration, which isn’t always my favorite.
Nevertheless, I plowed through this book after the first hurdle and ended up enjoying it in the end. So if you’re looking for something highly erotic with intense emotions, I think this one is the perfect read to fit your mood. There’s no doubt that Lara Adrian can write some sexy books.
