Romance 101: LGBT Romance + Giveaway

Valentine’s Day is almost here and we thought, what better way to celebrate than to talk about Romance!  We are starting a new series where we will be covering all topics related to the romance genre.  Kicking things off this week we will talk about subgenres, tropes and character types and give you some recommendations along the way.  This will be perfect for the newbie romance reader feeling a bit overwhelmed about where to start.  But maybe it may have some information that you may not have been clear on if you’re a seasoned romance reader.  After this week, this will become a monthly feature so please be sure to let us know what other topics you’d like us to cover!

If I’m not mistaken I’ve only read one book that included a M/M romance and that was Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda which doesn’t actually focus on the romance. I definitely want to read some from this genre.

Dawn M. Roberto

Depending on the book, I think one of my favorite MM couples is: Jared and Matt from marie Sexton’s Promises. I have several that I adore after reading their stories.

Timitra

I don’t have a fave as yet

John Smith

“Leave a comment and tell us your favorite LGBT couple.” Hmm. I don’t know. Ryan and Seth on “The O.C.” needed to be together. It was destiny. Why didn’t that show ever tell us the truth about their journey?

That’s a tough one. I have a few authors I love in this genre. I love One Call Away by Felice Stevens. Oren and Noah are such a good couple. And one of the first M/M books was Hot Head by Damon Suede. Dante and Griff are so sweet and so confused. Their love story was an emotional roller coaster! And I love Tara Lain’s stories. Jeez! I can’t pick just one!

I’ve read some books from this genre, but I don’t have a fave couple as of right now.

You named several authors and books I have enjoyed, too, Annie. I enjoyed getting your suggestions. I still need to read Charlie Cochet’s series, but I love Mary Calmes, Jane Seville, Ava March, Abigail Roux, ZA Maxfield, Amy Lane, and Marie Sexton, too. My favs include some of those, but also Charlie Cochrane’s Cambridge Fellows mysteries, Amy Lane’s Christmas Kitsch, many SE Jakes series, Alex Beecrofts historicals, LC Chase’s cowboys., AM Arthur, Cardeno C’s Home series, KC Burns’ sci-fis, JL Merrow’s cozies, Lisa Henry’s books, Adira August’s BDSM suspense series, Kate Sherwood’s fantasy and mysteries, JL Langley’s sci fis, and… Read more »
