UTC After Dark: Dragons Creature Feature

Welcome to Under the Covers After Dark, this week we will be celebrating all things paranormal! We love anything with a paranormal twist in it, but what we love the most is when our heroes are a little…extra. So, grab the popcorn, get a bucket of coke and settle in for a creature feature! Each day this week we are going to show your our favourite heroes, but we don’t mean ordinary men, nope we like our heroes to be a little wild and a lot paranormal. So be prepared from dragons, demons, angels, shifters and vampires to steal your heart away.

Today, we are all about dragons! These fierce creatures may be dangerous but we can’t help but fall in love anyways…

Gwenvael
from What a Dragon Should Know by G.A. Aiken
#3 Dragon Kin series

Gwenvael the Handsome is more than just his looks. He’s got a stellar personality, but even more than that is his love for The Beast. It’s the most unexpected romance to occur, but one that completely won me over when I read it. I love it when the hottest of the hot dragon falls hard for someone so unlike him. It’s his ability to follow his heart that makes him the most endearing to me and that is why he is one of my favorite dragons of all time.

Attraction that’s off the scale…

Only for those I love would I traipse into the merciless Northlands to risk life, limb, and my exquisite beauty. But do they appreciate it? Do they say, “Gwenvael the Handsome, you are the best among us—the most loved of all dragons?” No! For centuries my family has refused to acknowledge my magnificence as well as my innate humility. Yet for them, and because I am so chivalrous, I will brave the worst this land has to offer.

So here I stand, waiting to broker an alliance with the one the Northlanders call The Beast. A being so fearful, the greatest warriors will only whisper its name. Yet I, Gwenvael, will courageously face down this terrifying…woman? It turns out the Beast, a.k.a. Dagmar Reinholdt, is a woman—one with steel-gray eyes and a shocking disregard for my good looks. Beneath her plain robes and prim spectacles lies a sensual creature waiting to be unleashed. Who better than a dragon to thaw out that icy demeanor?

And who better than a beast to finally tame a mighty dragon’s heart?

Dragos
from Dragon Bound by Thea Harrison
#1 Elder Races series

Dragos Cuelebre is at top of the food chain.  He is well respected and often feared in his world.  This guy exudes power, hotness, and he is all kinds of alpha.  But under all that armor, he has a soft spot for his mate, Pia.  I love their romance and even more, the world Thea Harrison has created.  This series is often compared to Nalini Sigh’s Guild Hunter Series.

Half-human and half-Wyr, Pia Giovanni spent her life keeping a low profile among the Wyrkind and avoiding the continuing conflict between them and their Dark Fae enemies. But after being blackmailed into stealing a coin from the hoard of a dragon, Pia finds herself targeted by one of the most powerful—and passionate—of the Elder Races.

As the most feared and respected of the Wyrkind, Dragos Cuelebre cannot believe someone had the audacity to steal from him, much less succeed. And when he catches the thief, Dragos spares her life, claiming her as his own to further explore the desire they've ignited in each other.

Pia knows she must repay Dragos for her trespass, but refuses to become his slave—although she cannot deny wanting him, body and soul.

Dimitri
from Firestorm by Donna Grant
#10 Dark Kings series

Dimitri is definitely the strong and silent type and I think compared to others on this list, he may actually be overlooked often. But I adore his intensity that simmers below the surface. He’s a very loyal character and when he feels threatened, that intensity grows to become something powerful and scary. I think having a character like this on the list is very important, and thus, makes him invaluable too.

But when Dimitri reveals his biggest secret, can she learn to love the man—as well as the dragon within, in Firestorm, the next Dark Kings novel by New York Times bestselling author Donna Grant.

Maxis Drago

#24 Dark-Hunter series

Here’s another dragon shifter who is a little bit withdrawn in personality. However, Maxis is extremely loyal, and this gets put to the test when his mate gets in trouble. His protective instincts rises to the surface and this is where we get to see his true colors. As you know, Kenyon loves to torture her heroes and Maxis definitely carries that same tone throughout his book.

Rhage
from Lover Eternal by J. R. Ward & The Beast by J.R. Ward
#2 & #14 Black Dagger Brotherhood series

Of course, the number one spot had to go to Rhage! Is there any other dragon that is bigger, badder, or better? Rhage is the top dog when it comes to the dragon game and even if his beast was tame, he would still be a lethal fighter. Paired with his boyish charm and larger-than-life attitude, there really is no one else would could compare to the Beast.

So, Rhage is the only dragon hero from your list I’ve read, but I do love them. There is an adorable m/m urban fantasy series called the Supernatural Consultant series by Mell Eight about a family of dragons. I couldn’t pick one. I love all of them.

Rhage is on a list by himself….Total hotness and a true bad ass ! The only real dragon i’ve read recently is Dianna Love’s Deagan from her Belador series. He’s a bad ass but i havent read his his “couple book”….yet

I didn’t really think of Rhage being a dragon, but if that is what you guys want to classify his beast, then hell yeah, Rhage all the way! He’s my favorite of all the BDB and of all the dragons!
