Take a seat, grab some popcorn and an ice refreshing beverage and lets Netflix and chill. No you dirty minded individuals not like that, we want to share with you some recommendations about what we are watching and listening to. For those times when you just need to put your book down and plonk in front of the TV and relax. Whether it’s on Netflix, Amazon Prime, regular TV channels or a podcast, we are going to let you know what shows, films and podcasts we’ve been enjoying and share the love.
So I forgot to mention two things I sort of binged on Netflix last month, so I’ll start my recap with that. LIMITLESS season 1 which is like a second part to the movie by that name. Honestly, I enjoyed the movie and wanted to see what the show would be about and it was entertaining. Nothing that I’ll be rushing to watch more of even though it ended on a cliffhanger.
The other thing I forgot to mention last month is I watched season 1 of the show 3%. My hubby randomly stumbled across this one and just wanted to watch it. We ended up watching season 2 in October so now all caught up. I can’t say it’s the most amazing show ever, but it was sort of interesting.
OK back to full October listing … I watched HOW IT ENDS which is an original Netflix movie. I’m guilty of watching this because of Theo James. I should make better decisions. This movie felt like it had no point in the end and left me frustrated. And finally I watched BLACK PANTHER which was amazing!
Now the shows that I’m still watching week to week are still: THE VOICE, THIS IS US, MAYANS MC and YOU. Still enjoying all them!
Speaking of binge watching… I binged 3 things this month. Season 1 of ALTERED CARBON. That show was sooooo good. I can’t wait for the next season. The quality was also amazing, it felt like a movie more than a show. I was obsessed. I also got through season 1 of THE GIFTED. I love all things X-Men so I was excited about this show, plus Vampire Bill is in it! LOL It was entertaining but didn’t wow me. And then I binged seasons 1 thru 3 of SHADOWHUNTERS. Weird decision here because I read the first book in this series and I just didn’t love it. I didn’t like Clary or Jace and couldn’t really care enough to continue on to read book 2. I had seen the movie a while back which I had enjoyed and decided to give the show a chance. And now, I’m in love. I think a big part of that is because I love Magnus and Alec, but I feel like now I need to read the books so I can get more of them. One thing the show apparently got right? Clary is just as annoying to me and I still don’t like Jace. LOL So we’ll see if I give the books another chance.
I’ve spent a fortnight of this month quite ill, nothing dire, but enough that I should be feeling miserable. And I am a little *cue the one sad lonely tear*. However, there has been a bright spot, one thing that has made me laugh despite feeling awful and it being physically painful to do so. That thing is the podcast My Dad Wrote a Porno.
I know, I know! I love podcasts! Why haven’t I listened to one of the most popular podcasts in the world before now!? Honestly I have no idea, it’s been on my list since the first series, I have even recommended it to other people! I am just glad I finally picked it up.
The premise of the podcast is contained within the title…one of the hosts’ dad wrote an erotica novel. He then reads a chapter of the novel with his two friends each week. So, if you have ever wondered what an erotica novel, penned by retired eccentric Irishman who has a tentative grasp of grammar, plot and the anatomy of the female body is like (and who hasn’t?), this podcast is a dream come true. It. Is. Hilarious. So, I highly recommend you listen to the podcast and get acquainted with Belinda Blumenthal and the sexy world of the pots and pans business!
Here’s one of my favourite quotes from the first book, I had to pause the podcast as I couldn’t stop laughing – luckily I was at home and not in public!
Her nipples hardened with her feeling and they were now as large as the three inch rivets which had held the hull of the fateful Titanic together.”
I finally watched A Star is Born with Lady Gaga and Bradly Cooper and it was pretty amazing. It’s a romantic story of a rising star and the other on the way down. Lots of drama involving their romance, hardships in the industry, and battling addiction and depression. Lady Gaga ‘s acting and obviously her singing is just super, but I have to give it to Bradly Cooper because he really took the stage here; literally and figuratively. He is all kinds of amazing in taking this role and his singing totally surprised me. What an amazingly talented man! If you haven’t watched this movie yet, you must!!!
I still have not found anything to binge on as far as TV series, but I’m happy that The Walking Dead had started. Other than that…nothing to excited to report.
What are you all watching/listening to?
