Welcome to Under the Covers, Jessica! We are excited to have you here today and to talk about your upcoming book THE BAD BOY ISSUE. I know we are a little early since the book comes out December 28 but lets find out some more about it.
What’s your favorite thing about Sebastian Quinn and did you have someone specific in mind (celebrity, etc) when writing his character?
Sebastian Quinn is a little different than your average alpha male. He has a lot of heart and doesn’t open up to people right away. That means when he does, he goes all in. He’s also quick on his feet, which makes him one of the funniest heroes I’ve written!
I don’t have a specific celebrity in mind, but I sort of picture Sebastian as the contestant on The Bachelor who’d sweep women around the world off their feet!
If you could spend the day with Georgina, how would you two spend it?
Georgina has a massive Great Dane named Bruno. He might be the real hero of this book! Because of his size, he requires a lot of exercise and attention. Georgina and I would take Bruno around Manhattan to sample craft beers, eat candy, and chat up handsome dog dads. Of course, Sebastian wouldn’t appreciate that so he might want to tag along with the newest addition to his family (you’ll have to read to find out!).
Lets talk music! What would be the theme song for this couple?
Ohh. Great question. I make a playlist for every story I write—it’s actually one of the first things I do. It’s hard to pick just one theme song for Sebastian and Georgina. Since it’s an enemies-to-lovers romance where Sebastian has a bit of a bad reputation, I’m going to have to choose “Bad Blood” by Taylor Swift…followed by “Fix You” by Coldplay for when they finally lower their swords.
I love a good office romance! What’s your favorite trope to read and to write?
My favorite trope to write has to be a true love triangle, but I’m partial to anything with angst, steam, or an alpha in a suit and tie. I love to read that too, which is what got me started writing in the first place. However, I do have a weak spot for stories with a tortured hero, especially If he has to grovel for the heroine.
If you could pick 5 words to describe what readers can expect from books, what would you say?
What inspires your book ideas?
So much! Actually, anything around me. I’ve been inspired by music, film, tv, other books…mostly any type of media that really pushes boundaries. I’m moved when the artist goes there. Sometimes things just hit me while I’m walking down the street. I get my best ideas when my mind is free to wander, like when I’m driving or trying to fall asleep.
Who are your favorite bad boys (not from books)?
James Dean, Warren Beatty, Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Jax Teller from Sons of Anarchy, Ernest Hemingway
What 3 books on your to-read list are you most excited about?
Outlander by Diana Gabaldon (I know, I’m late!)
Date Night Rapid Fire
Dinner or Movie? Dinner
Flowers or Candy? Flowers
Drive or Walk? Depends on the guy 😉
Drinks or Coffee? Coffee
Theather or Picnic? Picnic
