~ Under the Covers
It started so well with this series! I loved the first book The Wingman, I tolerated the second book The Best Man but I just couldn’t bring myself to pass the 25% mark on the final book in the trilogy The Wrong Man. Because I didn’t finish the book, I am keeping this review short and give you the two big reasons that I couldn’t continue with this books:
- The hero. I did not like him. At all. I think he was supposed to come across as a lovable playboy, but all I could see was a manipulator with some superficial charm. If you weren’t useful to him or he didn’t want to fuck you, then don’t expect any kind of decency. This was the hero I was supposed to fall in love with? I think not.
2. The heroine. This was an opposites attract romance so the hero may have been a womaniser, but the heroine was practically a virgin. She was the family good girl and does her very best to live up to that stereotype. I just found her blushing naivety disingenuous and irritating. When a 32 year old woman has to spell out S-E-X because she can’t say it out loud *shakes head* I just can’t go on.
Those were my main reasons for putting this book down for the final time, if you start having feelings of intense dislike for the two main characters, it’s the perfect time to stop reading.
