We couldn’t be more excited today to have one of our favorite authors, Jaci Burton, on the blog chatting with us about her latest release in the Hope series, ONE PERFECT KISS. If you like sweet small town contemporary romances, this series is for you! Now lets give Jaci a warm welcome and stay tuned at the end for an amazing giveaway.
Welcome back to Under the Covers, Jaci! We’re so excited about your new book, ONE PERFECT KISS! First off, let’s get to know the characters a bit more. What can you tell us about Josie’s character?
Thank you for inviting me! I’m excited about ONE PERFECT KISS as well. Josie is an animal loving, free spirited, fun and exciting woman during her free time. At school, she’s a dedicated language arts teacher who takes her job very seriously.
What is your favorite characteristic of Zach?
His absolute dedication to the kids he teaches and coaches.
What was your favorite thing about writing this book?
I loved the buildup of the relationship between Zach and Josie, how much they grew to care for and about each other, and the different ways they showed it.
What was the hardest?
My husband fell ill and had major surgery and subsequent treatment while I was working on this book. Work goes on despite life events, as I’m sure everyone knows, but writing this book was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. Finishing it felt like I’d reached the summit of Mt. Everest.
When you’re not writing, what other activities do you like to do?
Anything and everything that gets me away from my desk and out of the damn house. Even if it’s just going outside to water the plants, it’s out of the house. (Can you tell I don’t get out much?)
What is the biggest inspiration to your writing and style?
Oh…everything. It’s always been everything. I can be inspired by sunrise, by my kids, by something I’ve seen on TV or read in a book, by watching a couple on a date when I’m out to dinner, by the smallest comment. The world is filled with inspiration if you take the time to look.
Is there a genre (or trope) that you love but don’t read enough of?
Historicals. I read a wonderful one recently(Tessa Dare’s The Duchess Deal), and it reminded me that historical romance was my first love in romance novels. I definitely have to read more of them.
Tell us three of your auto-buy authors.
Jill Shalvis, Julie James, Shannon Stacey. All three consistently deliver exceptional romance, a book you can’t put down, and a solid happily ever after. What more could you ask for?
What’s the last book you read that you would recommend?
A Princess in Theory by Alyssa Cole. Smart, confident, heroine and a prince of a hero who woos the heroine in unexpected ways. It was a swoon-worthy royal romance that I thoroughly enjoyed.
What’s next for Jaci Burton?
I’m currently working on Hot To The Touch, the first book in my Brotherhood by Fire firefighter series which will debut in 2019. So excited for this new series!
Thanks so much for sharing with us today!
Thanks so much for having me here!

Released: September 4th 2018
Series: Hope #8
Josie Barnes has always craved a sense of home. She's found that in Hope, Oklahoma--she bought a house, has a new job as an English teacher at Hope High, she's made wonderful friends, and she's taking in stray animals that no one else wants. Now she's flirting with fellow teacher and hot high school football coach Zach Powers. But he's almost too good to be true, and Josie learned long ago not to trust in the too-good-to-be-true, because it has always let her down.
A former pro football player, Zach had to pull back when a career-ending knee injury forced him to rethink his future. Now he's happy calling plays as Coach. If he could just get Josie Barnes to stop benching his players for their poor grades, life would be perfect. Instead, she drives him crazy as the stern teacher at school and the sexy woman of his dreams outside of the classroom. He knows she's been hurt in the past, but he wants to be that guy she can trust.
The one thing Josie has never been able to count on is the people closest to her. But Zach intends to show her that what they have between them is a textbook case of love.
Jaci Burton is graciously giving away
winner’s choice of a signed print copy of any of the books in the Hope series.
