Interview and Giveaway with A.J. Pine
Are you looking for a sexy cowboy? Check out A.J. Pine’s Crossroads Ranch series. Book 2 is releasing tomorrow and we got a chance to chat with her a bit about it. Lets give her a warm welcome to UTC today. And don’t forget to scroll to the end for a giveaway.
Welcome to Under the Covers, A.J.! We’re excited about TOUGH LUCK COWBOY! Can you first tell us what the Crossroads Ranch series is for our readers?
Hi! Thanks so much for having me! The Crossroads Ranch series is about the Everett brothers—Jack, Luke, and Walker—three ranchers who inherit a vineyard from their late father. All they know is ranching, so the vineyard throws them for a loop. While the backdrop of all three books is about them trying to take the vineyard from failing to thriving and also keeping the ranch going, the books are individual, stand-alone stories of how each brother overcomes his own internal struggle and the women who help them do it while also showing them how to fall in love along the way.
Lily has been through a lot. What would you say is your favorite thing of her character?
Divorce is tough, and even though many would point the finger at her ex for why things went south, I love that Lily owns the part she played in a failed relationship. Does it make her terrified to truly let herself fall for Luke? You bet it does, but it also helps her grow and learn that the safe choice isn’t always the right choice when it comes to matters of the heart. Also, she can throw together a gourmet meal and a home baked dessert with whatever she can find in the kitchen!
Luke sounds like the perfect cowboy! What made you decide to write a series about cowboys?
I’m from the Midwest and had written a lot of romance that takes place in the city. But I’ve always had a bit of a small-town fantasy and wanted to write heroes who were a bit more rugged, who worked outside, and who could wear the hell out of a pair of jeans and some cowboy boots. Plus, I got to write a daredevil bull rider with Luke, which meant lots of research watching some sexy rodeo stars on YouTube.
Since this is your first time here, tell us five things about yourself that readers wouldn’t know!
- I’m a huge Marvel movie fan, yet I’ve never seen Deadpool because I don’t let my kids watch Rated R movies yet, and they don’t want me watching it without them. LOL.
- I can recite Simone’s whole “Uh, he’s sick…” response from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, and—much to my kids’ annoyance—do it every time we watch the movie.
- Two of my cats are named after fish.
- I play brewery trivia on most Thursday nights.
- I went to school in Aberdeen, Scotland for my junior year of college.
What are three things you are currently loving that are not related to books?
- The TV Land show Younger
- VitaCup Coffee
- The cast recording of Waitress the musical
What’s the last book that kept you up all night reading?
It’s a book that’s not out yet that I got to read early—Carly Bloom’s Big Bad Cowboy
If you could have a dinner party with your favorite characters (not from your books) who would you invite?
All the fabulous, complex women from Liane Moriarty’s Big Little Lies. I’ve always felt like Madeline and I would be besties if we ever met…and she actually existed.
What are you working on next?
I’m working on edits for Hard Loving Cowboy, Walker’s book and the final book in the trilogy, which will be out in March of 2019!
Thanks so much for sharing with us today!

Sucks that the author hasn’t watched DEADPOOL yet. It’s an entertaining movie, too.
Anyway, great author’s interview, UTC!
Thanks for the post, I haven’t read many cowboys lately.
