Something Borrowed, Something Blue: Jenny Holiday

It’s wedding season and we have definitely caught wedding fever.  No, no one is getting married but we are definitely excited to read some wedding themed romances.  So we’ve put together a fun event for you guys where you can hopefully discover something fun to read this summer.  Because, frankly, what could be better to read by the pool on a hot summer day than a wedding themed romance?

Today we are talking to Jenny Holiday about the second book in the Bridesmaids Behaving Badly series, IT TAKES TWO, which comes out June 26!  You won’t want to miss this one.

Welcome to Under the Covers, Jenny!  We are excited to be talking to you about IT TAKES TWO today.  This is the second book in the Bridesmaids Behaving Badly series.  How would you describe this book in three words?

Las Vegas hijinks

We all love a good romance trope and the best friend’s brother is certainly one of my faves. What is your favorite trope to read?

Enemies to lovers is by far my fave—gets me every time.

What is your favorite thing about writing series with a wedding theme?

The over-the-top-ness of the wedding industry is so ripe for satire that the jokes practically write themselves!

What is the craziest thing that has happened at a wedding you attended?

Nothing too out there, but I did hear a drunken father of the bride speech once that was truly, truly awful. He was throwing all this subtle shade and backhanded compliments at everyone, including his daughter! The whole place was cringing. I kept waiting for someone to cut him off, but nope, he just kept going and going and going.

What does your writing space look like? Feel free to share any visuals.

We moved a couple years ago, and for the first time, I have my own dedicated office (though it also contains a single bed for guests), which is still a thrill. It’s not very tidy, but it’s bright (turquoise!) and cheerful and covered with art I love.

What’s the last book you read and loved?

Thirsty by Mia Hopkins. It’s about an ex-con trying to get his life back together in east LA, and the good girl he’s always had a crush on. It’s raw and honest and beautifully written.

What are 3 things (non-book related) that you are currently loving?

What do you mean non-book-related? Ha. No, for sure my garden. I actually kind of hate gardening, but I enjoy sitting on my porch and looking at my garden. Second, The Handmaid’s Tale TV series, though “loving” is not the correct word—it’s more like “riveted.” Finally, um…this “non-book-related” thing is hard! I’m gonna go with the Great Lakes. I live thirty minutes from Erie and an hour from Huron and I love summer beach time.

What are you working on next?

I’m working on finishing up the last Bridesmaids book—it’s not the last book that’s going to be released, but the last one that I’m writing. (I’m writing them out of order, which is…interesting given that I’m extremely timeline-challenged at the best of times, as my editor will attest!) It’s a novella out December 4, 2018, and it’s called Merrily Ever After. It’s an update on Jay and Elise, the couple who get married in One and Only.

Available June 26, 2018!

I do enjoy a good enemies to lovers story.

Sadly, I’ve not attended a wedding that had anything crazy happen.

Awesome interview and giveaway!! Shared on all my socials!!! The craziest thing I ever saw at a wedding was a couple of years the bride and groom decided that they didn’t want to get married just as they were starting their vows!! But they still asked everyone to stay and party!!!

The bride tried to copy something that happened at my wedding reception: the intro music which had a lot of dramatic effect when the doors to the ballroom were opened–people were stunned–then the bridal party was introduced and entered after the guests entered and were seated. But, instead of using a CD (it was the 90s, y’all), she taped the music from a vhs tape of the movie soundtrack I used. It sounded cheap, lots of static. Plus, she copied something that was very personal to my wedding. And, there was no dramatic entry for her reception–it was a union… Read more »

I love books that have some type of It Happened In Vegas theme

I saw someone get up during the ceremony and go get a drink from the keg.

Craziest thing that ever happened at a wedding… the bride went into anyphalactic shock (spelling? sorry!)after eating the caesar salad that had anchovies in it and she’s allergic to seafood! eek!

Don’t think anything crazy went down at any wedding I’ve attended so far at least not that I saw

I haven’t yet attended one.
