“Ms. Chupeco upped it a notch in the suspense and action bit of the story…”
~ Under the Covers
Tea’s adventure continues in the Heart Forger by Rin Chupeco. As tea becomes more powerful, she takes on the responsibility of saving the kingdom but with revenge in mind. She’s definitely not the same girl who had just discovered she can raise the dead.
Tea tells her story of how she became consumed with her magic and how she continues to fight for her humanity. Using her magic to take lives and raising the dead for her benefit does not come without a price. Her relationship with her brother, friends, and the one she loves most will definitely take a turn for the worse. With revenge in mind, who knows what Tea will do next.
Ms. Chupeco upped it a notch in the suspense and action bit of the story which I appreciated a lot. The relationships between the characters are definitely a bit more solid and it was much easier to understand what is going on in the world building. The switch between the past and present stories was also easier to follow in this instalment. What I like most is the inner battle that Tea struggles with. Her situations represent so many of us battling our own inner demons. Trying to chose right from wrong and realizing the consequences after the fact.
Chupeco listened to her readers and improved her shortcomings from the first book. I definitely like this better than the first installment and can’t wait to see what Ms. Chupeco up her sleeve for the next book.

I coblog and review here at Under the Covers and occasionally review for Hot Listens.I love to read PNR, UF, Contemporary, New Adult, and Romantic Suspense. Occasionally, I will venture to Erotica, BDSM reads and rarely Historical Romance. There are some sub-genres that I don’t always enjoy, but I’m open to stepping out of my comfort zone. For the most part, as long as there’s a hint of romance, I’m pretty much in.
