As you all well know, we are huge lovers of paranormal romance here at Under the Covers and love exploring new authors.  I think we can all agree we are more than ready for PNR to make its big comeback, right?  So lets check out this new series by K.A. Linde featuring sexy vamps and give her a warm welcome here today.

Welcome to Under the Covers!  Since this is your first time here with us, can you tell us five things about yourself that we wouldn’t normally know?

  1. I wrote my first book at the age of 14 as a freshman in high school. It will never see the light of day. It belongs in the shelf it’s on.
  2. I coached a college dance team, Duke University, and now teach dance on the side for fun.
  3. After completing my masters degree, I worked as the campaign coordinator on the presidential campaign at University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.
  4. My dog is an Italian Greyhound named Riker that we call Hippo, because when he was a baby, we used to say he would eat like a Hungry Hungry Hippo.
  5. I really enjoy writing arguments, break ups, angst, and all the really high emotions in hard relationships.

We’re big fans of paranormal romance and we’re excited about your new series, Blood Type. Can you please tell us where the inspiration for the series came from?

The inspiration for this series actually came when I was reading a hematology blog post about extremely rare blood types. Most people think about blood in a very standard way like I’m A, B, O or positive and negative. And most people in the world are that way, but some people have incredibly rare blood types. Like 99.9% rare. I was like, “OH! Wouldn’t it be cool if there was a world in which vampires had to drink blood from a blood type that matched when they were human? And the big bad has this incredibly rare blood type and is scouring the world for a match.” It all kind of spiraled from there. Blood Type was born.

What made you decide to write about vampires?

I’ve always loved vampires. Growing up, Buffy the Vampire Slayer was my favorite show. I also really love Vampire Academy, Supernatural, and Underworld. I’ve always wanted to write about vampires, but I never felt like I had a story that really spoke to me. I wanted it to be really original. Not something you could find anywhere else out there. So, when the idea hit me for Blood Type, I couldn’t stop myself from writing it.

If you had to describe Reyna and Beckham in just 3 words, what would they be?

Passionate, impulsive, domineering.

What would you say sets your vampires apart from others out there?

Definitely the fact that they have to drink from a blood type match. Everyone is paired up with a blood escort so they drink the right kind of blood. It’s become a huge business for vampires to hire humans to help “civilize” them.

We love warning labels!  If you were to write a fun warning label for this series, what would it be?

Proceed with caution! Hot brooding vampire, one feisty escort, and a connection that sizzles. Once you start you won’t stop. Addicting as hell!

If you could be any type of paranormal creature, what would it be and why?

Probably a witch or a warlock. I’ve always wanted to have magic at my disposal and be able to create portals to other places.

What’s the last book you read that kept you up all night reading under the covers?

The Ruthless King trilogy by Meghan March. Fire hot! I love Mount and Kiera.

Tell us 3 non-bookish things you are currently loving.

  1. Hourglass foundation sticks and moisturizer tint. Best foundation I’ve ever found.
  2. Stitch Fix! It’s my obsession. I get all of my clothes through them.
  3. Pure Barre. Life saver for me. Such a difficult work out, but still really energizing.

What are you working on next?

Up next is my Wright Love Duet—The Wright Love and The Wright One out May 15th and May 29th. It’s about a woman who lost her husband a year ago. She’s not widowed with a two-year-old son and is trying to figure out how to love again and the man who shows her she can.

Thanks so much for sharing with us today!

Series: Blood Type #1
Published by Loveswept

A startling new vision of paranormal romance: When a human ventures into the world of vampires—a decadent milieu of blood-bonds and betrayal—she discovers that not all is what it seems.

For Reyna Carpenter, giving up her body isn’t a choice. It’s survival.

In a civilization laid waste by poverty and desperation, Reyna accepts a high-paying position with the wealthy and hungry vampire elite. Her new job is as the live-in blood escort for the intimidating, demanding, and devilishly handsome Beckham Anderson. He’s everything she expected from a vampire, except for one thing—he won’t feed off her.

Reyna soon discovers that behind Beckham’s brooding, wicked façade lies a unique and complex man. And that, in a dark and divided world, she is more valuable than she ever would have believed.

For with each passing night, Reyna can’t shake the sensation that it’s Beckham who’s afraid of her.

Note: Reyna and Beckham’s story continues in Blood Match.
