The Moorehouse Legacy series by Jessica Bird
You all know that here at Under the Covers we are big fans of J.R. Ward. And yes, that’s because of her Black Dagger Brotherhood series. However, she started writing many moons ago as Jessica Bird and we’ve actually gone back and read some of her work from back then. One of those is the Moorehouse Legacy series. Now we are not here to tell you this is anything like her dark and broody vampires. However, what you can expect from this series is some sweet 90’s Harlequin romances with a lot of small town charm and centered around the Moorehouse siblings. And don’t we all love small town romances about a family?
“What are you going to have?” he asked.
“A nervous breakdown,” she muttered and opened her menu.
So we’ll tell the waitress to make that a double, he thought.
THE REBEL is set in upstate New York at a rundown bed and breakfast that the heroine, Frankie Moorehouse, is trying to keep afloat after her parents died. And her business is rescued in part … and she’s swept off her feet … by sexy chef, Nate Walker.
“He saw clearly the truth other men didn’t. If you gave anyone the power to hurt you, soon enough, they were going to use it.”
THE PLAYER is exactly about that. The town’s most eligible bachelor. And sweet, innocent, and young Joy Moorehouse has had a crush on her sexy neighbor since forever. When he comes back to town to see his dying father he can’t help but be fascinated by her, even if he should really stay away.
“Her laugh was a travesty. Which made sense because in a way, so was his apology. But what was he supposed to say?
I want you until I hurt. Until I sweat.
I love you with a raw, bleeding need that I’ve never understood.
And all I know for sure is that you can never be mine.”
THE RENEGADE is about Alex Moorehouse, tormented hero who has been in love with his best friends’ wife for a long time. After a tragic accident, he’s left with an incredible amount of guilt that he didn’t try to save his friend hard enough. And fighting those feelings for his widow that now seem to have a mind of their own.
“It was not possible for a man to be sexier. Otherwise the laws of physics would collapse and the earth would implode into a black hole.”
THE ROGUE doesn’t actually have a Moorehouse, but we do get a Harley-riding, tatted, French chef and sweet Madeline is actually a world class sailor. This one has plenty of family drama and dark pasts.
If you are in the mood for some feel good romances, then give these a try. It was a lot of fun to look back in time and see one of my favorite authors in a much different light, writing about very different scenarios.
