“With a great set of characters, solid writing and an interesting and fast moving plot, it delivered everything I could’ve hoped for in this conclusion.”
~ Under the Covers

I’ve been anticipating this release and conclusion of the Confidence Game after the bit of a cliffhanger we were left with in the previous book.  CONSEQUENCE picks up where CONSTANT left off and gives us a different kind of book than the first.  Where there were some cuter and simpler moments in the first one, this one dives a bit more into the Russian mob and the life Caroline thought she had left behind.

First of all, I think the author has done a great job at letting us into this world without making this a dark romance.  There’s an ease and flow to this storyline that just makes it a breeze to read.  That’s one of my favorite things about it, actually.  This book had a lot more danger, secrets and lies than the first but it still didn’t feel like it every crossed that line.  While our main characters are complex and have done some bad things in their lives, you also get a very good sense for who they are on the inside and where their loyalties lie.  I loved that circumstances didn’t change them.

CONSEQUENCE read a lot like a great action/romance movie.  With a great set of characters, solid writing and an interesting and fast moving plot, it delivered everything I could’ve hoped for in this conclusion.  And even managed to surprise me with the turn of some events.  Sayer was just as adorable in this one and yes, maybe my heart melted a bit when he actually got to have some moments with his daughter.  The love between Sayer and Caroline was the force that drove both of them and couldn’t be denied and that message came through in their actions.

While this book cannot be read as a standalone, it’s only a duet so you can easily pick up the first and then dive right into this one.

This was a great ending to their love story and also a great teaser for side characters that I would love to read more about.  Like Frankie, Gus and Cage.  If that ever happens, I’ll be sure to jump right back into this world for sure.

About Rachel Higginson

I was born and raised in Nebraska, but spent my college years traveling the world. I fell in love with Eastern Europe, Paris, Indian Food and the beautiful beaches of Sri Lanka. But I came back home to marry my high school sweetheart and now I spend my days raising our growing family. In those few spare moments I have, I am either reading or writing Young Adult Fiction, because I am obsessed with it.
