Welcome back to Under the Covers, Marie! We’re so excited about your new Body Shop Bad Boys book, COLLISION COURSE.
Thanks. I am too!
I’ve been looking forward to Lou’s book for a long time. He’s always been such a fun and interesting character. What would you say is your favorite thing about his character?
Lou is a genuinely good guy with a true appreciation for women. And not as a player, but as a man who’s been surrounded by strong female relatives all his life. He respects women, and he’s a gentleman at his core.
Joey is a heroine who has been through a lot. What would you say is her greatest strength?
Joey never quits, and she loves her son. She works really hard to provide for him and to make a better life for them both. And when she loves, it’s with her whole heart.
In your books, you always have a great balance of humor and heart. What’s your biggest tip when trying to create dialogue and flirting between your characters?
I don’t know! I let the characters speak, and a bit of my natural sarcasm seems to flavor a lot of conversations. *grin* The biggest thing though, is that characters need to sound authentic. There’s nothing more aggravating to me then reading about an alpha male who sounds like he’s someone’s granny. Or that he swallowed a dictionary! I like dialogue to sound real, and when there’s chemistry between the characters, it naturally unfolds.
You have such a great cast of characters in this book and I love the brotherhood and sense of camaraderie that you have between all the heroes. Do you have a favorite? If so, who is it and why?
Every hero I write about is my favorite…until I write the next guy. But I admit I had a huge crush on Lou from the beginning. He’s such a sweetheart but comes across as this Casanova-type, which couldn’t be further from the truth. But Foley…Johnny… ah, Sam. I guess I’m just fickle.
What can we expect next from you?
I plan to write a story featuring two of my favorite secondary characters from my Body Shop series. I’ve loved Rena, a romance book fanatic, since she made her first appearance in What to Do with a Bad Boy (McCauley Brothers.) She’s danced through the Body Shop Bad Boys and The Donnigans series. Now it’s time she was swept off her feet by a giant, modern-day Viking. Not sure on an exact release date for this, but expect it in 2018. And in May 2018, you’ll finally get J.T. Webster’s story in The Only Thing, The Donnigans #3. J.T. makes me smile just thinking about him.
Thank you for stopping by to answer my questions!
Thanks so much for having me!
