“There was something captivating about THE STAR-TOUCHED QUEEN that has me wanting to read more.”
~ Under the Covers
I’ve been wanting to pick this up for a while because I keep seeing a lot of buzz around this series and I’ve been trying to keep up my goal this year of reading less contemporary and going back to finding some awesome fantasy and paranormal reads. I’ll admit, the covers are stunning and were the reason I needed to read this.
Horoscopes, stars and future. Our heroine, Maya, has a cursed horoscope. Her mother died at child birth and her horoscope predicts her marriage will be one of death and destruction. For that, she’s only been ostracized. The day of that marriage comes sooner than she expects when war breaks out and she is given in marriage to the enemy to make an alliance. Maya then goes to the kingdom of Akaran with her new mysterious husband Amar. And nothing is quite as it seems from there.
There’s a lot of secrets to be unveiled about this new kingdom and her new husband. There’s romance and intrigue. But I also found some of the pacing in this novel to be a bit slow. While I was getting lost in the world, I wanted to advance a little more and because we are thrown for some loops throughout the story I thought it lost some of the steam ahead. The author was able to wrangle everything back into place in the end though, and make this a twisty and interesting ride.
If you liked THE WRATH AND THE DAWN or THE BIRD AND THE SWORD you’ll enjoy this story. With a magical Indian setting, the beautiful blend of the Hindu folklore into this fantasy world was flawless and even breathtaking. It was the perfect touch to make this truly special and stand out. There was something captivating about THE STAR-TOUCHED QUEEN that has me wanting to read more.
“My star-touched queen,” he said softly, as if he was remembering something long ago. “I would break the world to give you what you want.”

I get easily distracted by pictures of sexy guys and have tons of book boyfriends.I keep all my alpha males chained to my basement and guard them fiercely.*Back off bitches*I like to see Jason Momoa as a lot of those boyfriends, because ….. mmmmmmm JASON.MOMOA!
I’m a part time graphic designer (yes, everything you see on UTC has been done by me), run my husband's business from home and on a good day I’m a self appointed superwoman (she who can do it all).I love blogging with my girls and I couldn’t do it any other way!My first love is everything paranormal, but in the past few years I’ve re-learned to love contemporary romance.Every once in a while I like to mix things up with a historical romance, a steampunk or an LGBT book.Because I need variety to avoid book slumps.I don’t always need an HEA although I prefer one, and I love authors that can rip my heart out and make me ugly cry.
