Welcome back to Under the Covers, Jennifer! We’re thrilled to have you here to talk about your newest release in the Billionaire Builders series. But first, can you tell us more about this series?
HI Angela, I’m thrilled to be here with you today! Yes, I’m very excited about this series because it incorporates my obsession and passion for HGTV. What is that you ask? A channel dedicated to delicious shows –and a lot of delicious men—that show custom home design, renovation, flipping properties, finding properties, etc. Think Property Brothers, House Hunters, Love it or List It, and Flip this House. I imagined my own trio of sexy brothers who are forced to work together for the family’s custom firm, Pierce Construction. It contains a lot of family drama, dark secrets, painful pasts, and delicious love stories that change each of them forever.
ANY TIME, ANY PLACE is Raven and Dalton’s book. What would you say was the biggest challenge in writing this book? How did you overcome it?
I really had a wonderful time writing their story—this one flowed nicely and their characters led me on a journey that excited me. I think the hardest part was balancing the past with the present in the book, and keeping the reader on the razor edge of anticipation for when the secret is revealed without getting too dramatic. This is an extremely emotional book, and for the hero, I needed to dig deep and explore his softer, more poetic side underneath all that alpha male lol!
Did you have to do any research for this series?
Yes, I had the pleasure of researching cocktails for Raven’s character as a mixologist. I even created my own cocktail based on the book, called a Sweet Hot Chris! It’s named after all the sexy Chris’ in the world such as Chris Evans, Chris Pine, Chris Pratt, Chris Hemsworth – you get the idea! For Dalton, I needed to really study what working with wood is like and did some research on steps, structure, and design of custom wood.
What’s Raven’s biggest weakness and strength?
Raven’s biggest weakness is her fierce need for independence and doing everything alone. It’s hard for her to lean on others or trust they will be there in the long term. Her greatest strength is her inner willpower. She is an awesome, fearless heroine to write about and she constantly surprised me.
What one thing do you love the most about Dalton’s character?
Oh, God, I fell madly in love with Dalton. He’s a closet poet, more sensitive than the other brothers, but contained under a badass, womanizer, sexual manwhore. He’s known to love and adore women, be very good in bed, but his sexual prowess is just the surface. He’s such a sensitive soul and when he loves, he loves with everything he is. He was one of my fave heros to write about.
If you could pick only one fictional book boyfriend (not from your books), who would it be and why?
Well, I’ve been on a crazy Rebecca Zanetti kick reading her Dark Protector series, and I am so in love with her hero, Dage, who’s the king of the vampires. I usually am not a huge reader of paranormal but she hooked me so he is now my new book boyfriend. He’s extremely alpha, protective, challenging, and so crazy about the heroine my heart just flutters lol! And of course, I adore their banter – one of my fave things in a romance.
How do you celebrate your release days?
I’m usually so busy tied to the computer doing release day work and promotion, I don’t get to celebrate lol! But usually the next day, I go out to dinner with my family and relax with some wine!
What’s the last book you read and loved?
In between my Dark Protectors marathon, I read The Luckiest Girl Alive by Jessica Knoll so I could cleanse my palette a bit. Loved it. Great dark mystery. Then I just finished Daisy Prescott, Better Love, and thought it was so fresh and fun.
What are you currently working on?
I just finished the final book in the series, All or Nothing at All, and now I’m working on Somehow, Some Way, a novella in the Billionaire Builder’s series through 1001 Dark Nights. My hero is Brady, the architect, who deserves his own happy ever after before the series ends!

When she was a teen, Raven Bella Stratton’s father was killed in a horrible car crash. The bigger shock was the discovery of a woman with him—Diana Pierce—and their two fully packed suitcases with airline tickets to Paris. Devastated by her father’s betrayal, Raven went to live with her aunt, never truly overcoming the traumatic event. When she discovers that the mysterious woman had a family with a husband and three boys, Raven vows to leave the memory of her father behind.
Until Dalton Pierce visits one night and suddenly her past challenges her future...
Leaving his life in California behind to run Pierce Construction with his two older brothers, Dalton Pierce has enjoyed returning home and studying his passion of woodworking. But when he visits the local bar with his brothers one evening, he’s immediately drawn to the smart-mouthed, badass, sexy bartender who sets his body on fire. Unfortunately, she doesn’t seem as intrigued by him, and his multiple advances are met with rejection. When he offers to restore the bar back to its original glory, he begins to work with her on a daily basis, and falls harder. His plan of seduction slowly weaves a web around them both, until they are caught up in the spell. But Dalton doesn’t know the secret that can either destroy them both...or finally mend two broken hearts.
