HOLIDAY BUZZ is the twelfth book in the Coffeehouse Mystery series by Cleo Coyle and this one might be one of my favorites for many reasons. One, it’s a Christmas-themed novel so I’m already halfway in love with it already. And two, this one is written slightly different than the other books in the series.

It’s clear that Cleo Coyle are expert authors because each book is so vastly different from the previous one. In this one, Coyle kind of goes back and forth between what happened before the victim is discovered and them after when the investigation starts. I will say that if you’re not good with mysteries yet, this can be a little confusing and distracting because of the jumping timeline with chapters but that’s why I always say that Cleo Coyle’s mysteries are a little more advanced and are good for the avid readers of mystery. I personally really loved this style of writing. It can take a bit to adjust but it goes to show just how well Cleo Coyle writes. I would love to know how they come up with their cases and how they plot because they are really innovative when they come up with their twists and turns.

In this book, there’s a slight conflict with Mike Quinn, Clare’s boyfriend. I have mentioned that I really love this guy but would like to see more of him. I think we do get to see a bit of him more in this book but call me greedy, but I NEED MORE OF MIKE! I want to see them grow more and get married and have babies. I don’t know if that’s something Coyle would like to do in the future but I’m all for it. I need more Mike in the books because sometimes I do think he can be overshadowed by Clare’s ex-husband, Matt (who is also amazing by the way).

My binge read of this series has been going so well. I’m so glad I’ve found this series and am looking forward to reading more!
