Interview with Carly Phillips

Hi Carly and welcome to Under the Covers again.  GOING DOWN FAST is the second book in the Billionaire Bad Boys series. How many books are you planning for this series?

Hi and thanks for having me here! I originally planned three books in this series… and then I introduced Kendall Parker and Julian Dane, two very damaged souls, and their story was calling to me. There will now be four books in the series. Going Down Easy (1), Going Down Fast (2), Going Down Hard (3), and Going in Deep (4).

What do you think it is about billionaires that readers find so alluring?

I think the allure is the lifestyle we … if not aspire to then admire. It’s why we’re fascinated by celebrities. They’re human but they’re a little different, live a little higher, don’t seem to have financial worries, so in books we can give them human flaws and then feel for them while we’re invested in their lifestyle.

For fans of your previous work, how would you compare this series to other books you’ve written in the past?

The Billionaire Bad Boys are core Carly Phillips with emotional resonance and family ties. They’re hot and sexy like newer readers have come to expect and my previous fans also tell me they love.

We love our heroes, so tell us more about Lucas Monroe. What makes him tick and what do you love about him?

Lucas isn’t your typical hero. He grew up a computer nerd in the shadow of a “can do no wrong” older brother who made it his mission to take whatever Lucas wanted … including the girl of his dreams. And since the younger Lucas didn’t have the nerve to make a move, he lost the girl. Time, confidence, and invention allow Lucas to grow up, grow into himself physically as well as emotionally and when he and Maxie come together again, everything has changed. It’s up to him to see if this is finally their time.

Describe this book in three words.

Emotional, gripping, and sexy.

I know you’re an avid reader. What book/author have you loved recently?

I’m a die hard Lexi Blake fan. I just finished her most recent, not out yet novel, Submission is Not Enough. She can do no wrong in my eyes.

If we went through your purse right now, what essential items would we find? Visual is fine 😉

Oh God. Tissues. Lots of tissues. Wallet. Pill case (migraines). Lip gloss. Lip gloss. Lip gloss. (I’m an addict). A nail file. And when I leave the house my Kindle and cell phone.

What are three non-bookish things you are loving at the moment?

  1. I am still a soap opera watcher, these days Days of Our Lives and General Hospital.
  2. Dogs. My dogs are my life. My two wheaten terriers. Bailey is getting older, she’s ten, Tony is my insane year and a half year old puppy, and Brady is my mutant (too big for the breed) Havanese.
  3. Makeup. I’m looking for new lip gloss and I’m obsessed.

What are you currently working on?

Going Down Hard. I’m starting Derek’s story. He’s going to surprise you in a very good way. He came from nothing and now he has everything … and then there’s his heroine. I’m sorry. I just can’t say yet. Their story is out Feb 21, 2017 and I can’t wait!
