“If you don’t like this book because of the paranormal aspect of it, then you’re going to love it because of Harry.”
~ Under the Covers
I am most likely the last person in the world to read this series but when I was looking for a new UF series to try, I remembered this one because it’s been in my TBR pile for years.
I can see why this series is so vastly popular and well-loved. Butcher’s voice is strong right from the get-go and there’s little time wasted on the boring bits before Harry has a new case. There is a lot to love about Harry Dresden. He’s got a friendly demeanor that immediately makes you like him and there’s also the fact that he’s got a sense of humor unlike any other. If you don’t like this book because of the paranormal aspect of it, then you’re going to love it because of Harry. He’s the thing that carries this book and I’ve got to say, I can now see why he’s such a known entity when it comes to the genre.
Despite the fact that this book was written and released a few years back and I only read it recently, the stories are fresh and unique and that’s saying something because I’ve read quite a lot of UF in my time. That it still manages to be considered as something special truly shows just how unique this book is. I’m definitely looking forward to reading the rest of the series!
