“Harte takes her time with the romance, building it block by block. It works very well.”
~ Under the Covers
When I heard about this new series, I nearly jumped out of my skin. Marie Harte is an author whose books I’ve only really discovered in the last couple of years, but she has an extensive backlist that ranges from PNR to Contemporary and more. For me, I discovered her Contemporary Romances first and fell in love with the McCauley Brothers series. The Bad Boys Body Shop series is a spin off from that one as it is set in the garage that the heroine in WHAT TO DO WITH A BAD BOY owns.
Now, at first I was expecting this to be Delilah’s brother’s book but it’s actually a series about four new guys. Johnny, Foley, Sam and Lou all work at the garage and well, they’re quite the bunch of characters. Not only are they hilarious, but each has their own bit of charm that I’m sure the ladies will love.
In this book Johnny falls for Lara, a hardworking bartender and student. She’s a busy girl who has a lot on her plate right now but Johnny manages to worm his way into her life. If you read the McCauley Brothers series, this one is a little bit tone down in terms of the sex scenes. The McCauleys Brothers, if you read it, is borderline erotic. In this one, however, Harte takes her time with the romance, building it block by block. It works very well.
I had a blast reading this and this was mainly because of Johnny. Harte first shows him as a womanizer but as the book progresses we see that is not the case at all. I was strangely fascinated by his character and now I’m looking forward to reading more about the other guys.
You don’t necessarily have to read the McCauley Brothers to enjoy this book, but Delilah and Mike do make some short appearances in the book. If you want my suggestion, I’d say read them all. They’re really fun reads.
