“Sexy Griffin Shipley will be the star of your farmer fantasies!”
~ Under the Covers
Last year, after reading about farmer Leo in NUTS by Alice Clayton, I discovered one thing. I have a thing for farmers! So when I saw that Sarina Bowen had this new series coming out, I was all over it. And I can say you won’t be disappointed! Sexy Griffin Shipley will be the star of your farmer fantasies!
There were a lot of things about this book that worked for me. First off, the premise. The heroine comes from a rich and powerful family but she’s since gone on a rebel path and tried to make something of herself in the field she wants, which is being a chef. The hero had dreams of being an athlete and all that crashed and burned when his father passed away and he had to go back home to take care of the family farm, and his family. These two have grown a lot since their college days to the point they are like two different people. And the short fling they had in college was just enough spark to ignite a reunion all these years later when Audrey lands on his farm.
Because this is a second chance romance (my crack) there was an ease to the relationship between Griff and Audrey that I loved. But also Audrey’s personality fit so well with him and his family that it was as if she was always meant to be there. I really liked that about their interactions.
As much as I loved the heroine, I can’t say enough about Griffin. He.Is.Sexy! He’s built this tough and grumpy persona around himself and Audrey quickly chips at it finding such a soft and loveable man underneath the tough exterior. He’s rough when he needs to be, and tender as well at times. One of my favorite heroes in a while! Maybe it’s that farmer vibe that gets to me.
While reading BITTERSWEET you can tell the author has a very good understanding of the world that she’s presenting in this series and I can appreciate that because it gives a good background to the story, as well as making it interesting to read and learn about some of those things. I am definitely finding a local apple cider farm to buy from.
This also leaves the next story (and the third, really) well set up and there’s no doubt in my mind you’ll want to read this whole series. If sweet and sexy is your thing, then pick up BITTERSWEET!
“To think of her as mine seemed like an impossible luxury. It’s the only luxury I’ve ever been greedy for.”
