Dance Card - UTC

surrenderdancecard-iainIan McKinnon is one of my first historical love.  A true warrior of his time. Not only he fought for his brothers but for what is right. He’d risked his life and won’t cower from any pain if it means saving Anne’s life.  Fierce yet romantic; not to mention, he’s well endowed.

“Was it truly possible for the heart to withstand such a tempest of feelings–Equal parts grief and joy, fear and hope? She hadn’t known love could be so sorrowful, nor joy such a source of sadness. Yet if this tumult was what it meant to love Iain with her entire being-body, mind and soul-she would accept it.”

dancecardgraememontgomeryI love that Graeme will look at a woman not just by her looks but how beautiful she is on the inside.  I was utterly in love with how he made Eveline feel like she is his world. In return, she revealed her true self; strong and very smart making them a perfect fit.  This book is equally romantic and inspiring.

‘”I love you, Eveline,” he whispered, though he knew she could not hear him. “Somehow, I’ll make you hear me and you’ll know that I love you as fiercely as it’s possible for a man to love a woman.”‘ Graeme Montgomery

First and foremost…this was one of the hardest things ever!!!!!!!  I tend to love historical romance heroes, must be all the rakes I read.

dancecard-nicholasstaffordknightshiningarmorStarting out a bit classic here even though I read this book somewhat recently (few years ago) and it’s historical in part, but it’s a time travel romance.  Nicholas Stafford, Earl of Thornwyck, a sixteenth-century knight has to be on my list of historical book boyfriends I must put on my dance card.  Even though he’s more comfortable wielding a sword than dancing about, this truly wonderful man is pretty unforgettable.  One you’ll want to travel back in time and be YOUR Knight in Shining Armor.  Still Swooning!

“Were I to die tomorrow, my soul would remember you.”

Recklessdancecard-adrianrohanLike Suzanne, I am obsessed with Anne Stuart’s House of Rohan series.  It may just be one of those classic series I recommend to everyone who would listen even though it’s probably not everyone’s cup of tea.  But unlike Suzanne, my favorite hero is actually the son of Suzanne’s favorite.  Adrian Alistair Rohan, the son of the King of Hell himself, is one of the kinkiest rakes around.  Growing up around the festivities of the Heavenly Host, sex and debauchery come natural to him.  And believe me when I tell you that years later I still want to marry him.  On a side note, these can be read as standalones so READ ADRIAN’S BOOK!

“You’ve been pinning for him these last three years, God knows why. Admittedly he’s gorgeous, but you’re hardly the type to be overset by simple beauty. Why?”
Because he has sad eyes, she could have said. Because he tries so very hard to be bad, to be mean, to be cruel, and all you have to do is look past the studied ennui to see a hurt little boy trying to emerge. And yes, because he’s bloody gorgeous.”

Raven Prince, TheDance Card - Edward De Raaf2Maybe Suzanne and I have too much in common huh?  I fell in love with this book and this hero because I tend to like heroes that have a little something to them.  In this case, Edward is not handsome and he has a terrible attitude.  But he’s somehow one of those reclusive heroes that you can’t help but be drawn to and fall in love with.  Much as the heroine did.  There is something about Edward that is just magnetic!
“He paid scant attention to the conversation. He could smell his own sent on Anna’s body, and it satisfied him in a primal way … She gasped as he buried his nose in her maiden hair and inhaled. His scent was strongest here, in her gilded curls so soft and pretty in the morning light.”

dancecard-westcliff2It-Happened-One-AutumnNo historical romance list of heroes is ever complete without a Lisa Kleypas hero.  And it’s so hard to choose just one!  I could’ve given you my Lisa Kleypas Dance Card list instead.  But ok, I’ll resign myself to just one.  And it may be a surprise to some as he may not be one of the most popular ones but I absolutely loved Marcus, Lord Westcliff.  I think it may have to do with how he handled Lillian who was a firecracker herself but I just need that man in my life.  And it helps that I’m sure he is a dashing dancer. 😉

“You know,” she said dreamily, passing over his question, “you’re not nearly as handsome as Lord St.Vincent.”

“There’s a surprise,” he said dryly.

“But for some reason,” she continued, “I never want to kiss him the way I do you.” It was a good thing that she had closed her eyes, for if she had seen his expression, she might not have continued. “There is something about you that makes me feel terribly wicked. You make me want to do shocking things. Maybe it’s because you’re so proper. Your necktie is never crooked, and your shoes are always shiny. And your shirts are so starchy. Sometimes when I look at you, I want to tear off all your buttons. Or set your trousers on fire.”

My dance card would consist of all of Jennifer Ashley’s Mackenzie brothers, especially my favorites, Ian and Cam. The other person who would definitely be on my dance card is the Duke of Avon from These Old Shades by Georgette Heyer. The Duke was one of my first book crushes way back when I first started reading romance.

Nicholas Stafford would be the only man for me and the only man on my dance card. I fell in love with him many years ago and have been faithful ever since.no one measures up to him.
