I love this time of year, not only is it Christmas and an excuse to eat lots of chocolate without judgment, I also get the chance to look back on all the great books I have read this year. Most of the year I am so busy going from one book to the next, churning out my (fabulous) reviews that their is very little time for reflection. I also get the chance to design a few new reading challenges. I love a reading challenges, even though I am not very good at them, but this year, I admit I’ve gone a little crazy, and we have not prepared you just one, or even two challenges for 2016, but four. Some are familiar, some are new; all are awesome and bound to get you reading something new and unexpected!
Under the Cover’s Book Club
UTC Book Club is the exciting new addition to our challenge menu and I can’t wait for us all to get stuck in. The idea of this is just like any other book club, you chose a book for the month, read it and then discuss. What you liked, what you hated, your favourite quote, whether you’re going to keep the hero in your book boyfriend basement…you know, the usual.
So, let’s get to the nitty gritty, for January, we UTC girls will be picking the book but from then forward on the 3rd week of the month we will set up a poll with three book options for you guys to vote in what you would like to read most next month. The book with the most votes will be the next months read. Rinse and repeat. Simple.
How To Sign Up
For this purpose, join us in our Goodreads group, League of Lusty Ladies, where we will be holding the poll and discussing the book. The January selection will be announced soon!
2016 Romance Roundabout Yearly Challenge
This is the second year we will be running this annual challenge, we were going to think of a brand new one, but I utterly failed at it this year, so I am determined that 2016 is going to be THE year. THE year where I kick this challenge’s arse.
For those of you who didn’t participate in the 2015 Romance Roundabout challenge, this is you chance to have a tour of all the many genre’s that romance has to offer. Most of us tend to stick to the same kind of books, but with the Romance Roundabout challenge we give you an excuse to put down your typical PNR or New Adult and instead sample a wide variety of genres you haven’t had an excuse to have a look at before. Our main aim; to discover something new and surprising, trial some new authors and generally have a fantastic time. Everything may not be to your taste, but you would have had a damn good time in your book reading journey.
So, you now know our mission statement, so now here’s the rules:
From each of the sub genres we have listed below, we want you to read the number of books in the level you want to sign up for. BUT don’t let us limit you! If you can think of any other sub genres you want to read/have read then add it to your challenge, our goal is to explore as much of the romance genre as we can!
|» Paranormal Romance
|| » Urban Fantasy
||» Young Adult||» New Adult|
|» Erotic Romance||» Sci Fi Romance||» Historical Romance||» Steampunk|
|» Contemporary Romance||» Romantic Suspense||» LGBT||» Fantasy Romance|

Pick it For Me Challenge
This is another golden oldie and always a great chance to pick up some great recommendations. As the name suggests, this challenge is one where someone else will be picking the books for you based on some general fun guidelines we chose for each month.
Here’s how it works:
1. Sign Ups open up in the last week of the previous month. You sign up by commenting in our Goodreads group, League of Lusty Ladies, that you want to participate. January sign ups will be opening up next week!
Note: Please only sign up if you are serious about participating. We don’t want to leave anyone stranded!
2. Once sign ups are closed I will take all the names and randomly pair you guys up
3. After partners have been assigned, you will work on a list of three (3) book recommendations for that person following our rules below. The recs are to be posted in the relevant thread in the League of Lusty Ladies group (there will be a new thread each month).
4. Your partner will pick one of your three recs and read that book during that month.
5. You in turn will have your own 3 books to choose from to read for the month as recommended by your partner.
Rollback Week was something that we started in 2015 and is something we are keen to continue on to 2016. Rollback Week gives us all a chance each month to take a deep breath, put down all our new releases and look back on anything we have missed in our mad dash to keep up with times. That old series that you keep meaning to read, but are always distracted by the shiny new books coming out? Rollback Week is the time to pick it up. It’s a challenge to yourself and a chance to clear that massive back log on your TBR mountain.
This is how it works…
When: Last week of each month
Where: On our Goodreads group, League of Lusty Ladies
What: For a book to qualify as a Rollback Read, it needs to have been out atleast a few months. We are leaving the exact line up to you, it’s your challenge, but we figure if it was out last week…it probably isn’t a Rollback Read, if it was out last year, it most definitely is.
How: Each month we will post a new thread where we can all decide what we are going to read for this weeks Rollback. It can be one book or one book a day, the choice is entirely up to you. We are just curious to see what you are reading and whether you thought it was worth the wait.
We skipped December because of the holiday madness but we will be back at it in January. So look out for the sign up post on the GoodReads group as well.
If you are a member of the group, you will receive an email notification when the sign ups for any of the monthly challenges open up to give you a chance to sign up. 😉
There you have it, hope to see you all there this year!
