Best of 2015: Angela’s Picks
ANGELA RECOMMENDS
Picking the Best Of every year is always a hard task for me. I swear I planned on jotting each book down as I finished but when I looked back at the list I started last January, well, it was blank. Ugh, so, I went to Goodreads and searched but still…not an easy task.
Best New Release: The Shadows by J.R. Ward
The Shadows: Our Review | Amazon
Are you even surprised? If you know us, you know we are all BDB fans, and you might see some crossover on picking this book as our Best Of this year. This 13th book, yes thirteenth book left me in tears. There were deaths yet, full of second chances. Still one of the best PNR series out there.
Best New to Me and Best New Series:
Burn For Me by Ilona Andrews and The Veil by Chloe Neill
Plenty had recommended Ilona Andrews to me since I started this hobby of reading, but I just managed to read their work this year. Burn for Me, the first of Hidden Legacy series knocked me off my feet. I was floored with the world they had created, and I was very much excited to read more. Unfortunately, the next release will not be out until 2017. Here’s hoping for a miracle.
This is another Best New To Me and Best New Series. Finally, getting to read Ms. Neill’s work and I couldn’t be any happier. She created a post apocalyptic super natural world that totally hooked me. This Urban Fantasy read is one of my fave for 2015.
Favorite Heroine: A Curse Unbroken by Cecy Robson
Celia Weird from A Curse Unbroken by Cecy Robson. This is the 5th book of the series and concludes Celia’s
story though the series continues. Celia is the main heroine of this series not only kicked ass, but she was kind-hearted and a pretty powerful witch. Landed herself lots of supernatural foes but eternal friends that will back her up any time, any day. This series is one of my top faves.
Favorite Hero: Reyes Alexander Farrow from Charley Davidson Series by Darynda Jones
How do I even pick one? It’s just too hard so, I’ll pick two. =) Reyes Alexander Farrow from Darynda Jones’ Charley Davidson series. He is sexy as sin, exude power, alpha male traits and most of all, loves his heroine with all hes heart…for eternity; figuratively and literally. I am in awe with his dedication and unconditional love for Charley Davidson.
Best Cover: Breaking A Legend by Sarah Robinson
Breaking A Legend by Sarah Robinson. This black and white cover caught my attention and could not let it go. I was drawn to it the moment I saw it on NetGalley and requesting it was a must. Lucky for me it turned out to be a good contemporary/MMA read as well.
Author of the Year: Darynda Jones
Darynda Jones is a New Your Times and USA Today Best Selling Author. She is also a Golden Heart and a RITA winner for FIRST GRAVE ON THE RIGHT, the first book of the Charley Davidson series which she is famous for. Darynda’s success with this series had kept her very busy. Not only getting contracted with more books but signings and social media events. I picked her for my Author of the Year because of her talent for producing brilliant installments of this series that never fails to amaze me. She has not failed to show respect for her colleagues, assistants and fans, not to mentions the love for her family shows when she speaks of them in social media. She was actually my Author of the Year in 2012 and for the most part, I pick her again for the same reasons mention above. I love this lady and I wish her even more success in her writing career.
