~ Under the Covers
I had started this series a while back and then sort of forgot about it. After reading book one I thought it wasn’t a bad read, but not something that stood out to me either. Just okay and entertaining to pass the time.
FIGHT WITH ME starts off grabbing my attention a lot more. The couple in this book was introduced in book one. Jules works for Nate and there was some kind of spark in COME AWAY WITH ME that we are left to wonder about. This book starts off going back in time a bit and showing us exactly when their relationship turned physical and how that changed their dynamics. I really like them as a couple. But in the end, there was again nothing that kept me as riveted as I was in the beginning.
I think I liked the hero more than the heroine in this story. He’s a hot, successful, alpha male wanting to woo Jules. But I had a hard time warming up to Jules. At times she would act like a spoiled brat, and their big obstacle in the end felt more like a tantrum on her part than anything else. I guess she was just not on the same wave-length as me and her decisions at times were not how I would’ve acted. So I had a hard time understanding her and sympathizing.
The sexual chemistry is great and this book can get hot, but the story was lacking a certain something for me. It was too sweet, too easy, and could’ve used a little more spice for my taste.
This series hits the mark for sweet, cute and a bit funny light hearted romance. It is a series I plan on continuing but not one I rush to pick up the next installment. Hopefully that will change with the coming books.
